AFAIK, E680i acts as a USB device only, not a USB host (so external device cannot be detected by E680i).
regarding SDIO, is there any diff with standard SD card slot ?
Wifi with mini usb connector is something I never seen hehe, a adaptor between the usb wifi and the phone will be necessary(the 4 usb stick pins are mapped direct to 4 pins of the mini usb, leaving the restant pin conected like the charger cable). But as we have not sucefully activated the host mode yet I don't recommend people to start buying usb sticks...
If someone can implement the sdio stack, feel free to do it, everything that we can have turn the phone better![]()

E680 acts only as usb device because of "factory implementation", the processor fully support usb host mode as in Zaurus pda and others pocket pcs, apparently the auxiliary hardware also support this mode...
SDIO use the same slot.
Here is a relevant thread on the e680 forum..maybe it helps

The A780 has an USB host controller, so maybe there's some more chance
As Spiceworm said. So we should start exploit A780 firmware now.
Check out this bit of news. Seems that the linux drivers and such are going to be released soon for Socket's SD WLan card. Hopefully this is one step closer to getting wifi on the e680i. I encourage anyone to write to info@embise.com and Socket Communications, Inc. through this link: http://www.socketcom.com/contact/not...4&Status=Sales and ask them to support this phone, as it has a compatible Host Processor Platform (the Intel XScale PXA 27x). Also you can point to them where the kernel source of this phone is located: http://sourceforge.net/projects/e680/ Hopefully when they see the interest in this, and how many more people will buy their product, Socket and Embwise can support our phone.
Also on Embise webpage, read this:
embWiSe had ported its SDIOWorx Linux SDIO stack onto Sharp's Zaurus SL-C3000 PDA.The SDIOWorx package for Zaurus SL-C3000 comes complete with the stack/Bus driver and drivers for the Host Controller,SD/MMC memory cards,SDIO-Bluetooth(Type A) and SDIO-WiFi.
This provides a cheaper Host platform for the SDIO client card vendors to test and validate their driver as well as demonstrate their technology on a PDA platform.
Seems that they've already been succesful with the Zaurus (linux like our e680).
hmm, i guess the main problem is not about the SD wifi support for linux, especially ezx, but it's that our phone has no SDIO stack implemented on it's firmware.
btw, any luck on usb host thing ?
