    About qpe-gaim (Gaim for Qtopia), only the UI source available. It's hard to find gaim source but now I have 0.82 version, not sure how to build the library part only. Need glib library also, will reuse glib from eXMMS project.

    @sly2
    Kopete is a KDE application, hard to port it to EZX.

    gaim (1:2.0.0+beta6-3) experimental; urgency=low

    * Gaim has changed its name to Pidgin. The old gaim package will
    only contain compatibility symlinks to the new program names, and
    the package can be removed if you're no longer using the old links.
    * If you've customized your /etc/gaim/prefs.xml, it will not be migrated
    automatically; you'll have to copy it into /etc/pidgin, and edit it
    appropriately.

    found there:
    Overview of gaim source package

    it looks like Pidgin is needed
