    Thanks for posting, dude...

What does Copilot do if you turn "AGPS" off? Does it fail to get location altogether?

samr7, if lapisrv hangs at this point, it probably means this SEEM change didn't really activate the GPS. If you try to repeat the experiment with the GPS-related SEEM off, you'll see the same behavior. Maybe some other SEEM change is required ?

btw, just to be sure, did you try to take the phone outside the window for a min or two with this strace running, to see if you get anything ? Maybe it only starts spitting data once it gets a signal ?

It will be nice if someone can try the SEEM edits with a firmware that now has Copilot on the phone (upgraded from a non-Copilot image.)

In the mean time I will play with more SEEM edits. I still do not have TransFlash card and can not do FW upgrade myself

I have upgraded from non-copilot version to
    AP:....74....
    BP:....40....
    CoPilot starts.
GPS Icon is visible, crossed via red line.
In the menu it shows GPS, but.. no listbox to switch on/off.
Starting CoPilot says no GPS signal.

I'd like to compare the seems of GPS and non-GPS phones and see if there are any other bits we could set to enable the GPS.

Could someone with a GPS phone please upload his seem 0032_0001 ?

If you don't have a p2k tool installed, you can use the attached prog, like that:

    # ./get_seem_0032_0001 >seem_0032_0001-gps

    and upload the file seem_0032_0001-gps.

(I hope the prog works. I only tested it on my phone )

    Thanks.

btw, did anyone else notice that non-GPS phones have some GPS-related strings in some seems, such as 004e_0001.seem 004f_0001.seem 0050_0001.seem 0051_0001.seem ?

    Mack,

I was only looking in 32 SEEM. I was alost ready to give up when I saw your posting. I saw couple of other threads where they concluded that we may not have GPS after all. But, I do not believe moto will go through the pain of manufacturing two different HW.

    Lets keep trying

what does it take not to populate the AGPS chip? No h/w changes required whatsoever... I guess asian version doesn't have the chip populated, while european version has it. and yes, different seems to "hide" the configurations.
