Default Bounty for $50 - Develop an anti-theft software for A1200

$50 from me to the developer who creates Anti-Theft software for A1200. I will transfer the amount to Admin shortly.

    My idea of Anti-theft software:

    1. As soon as new SIM is inserted, it sends a discrete message to a pre-defined number with Area & SIM info

    2. Be able to block the phone temporarily after sending message or even if the message fails (incase the thief inserts blocked SIM or the SIM does not have sufficient balance), i.e. unlockable after entering a pre-defined security code.

So get on to your toes guys.... I know you want to win.

I have a similar idea but in this way.

You create on your phone a secret program running on bootup (in memory) similar to BLACKLIST.

You enter 2 (two) secret phones number that are your private numbers for security and surveillance.

    Process:

    1) As soon as your phone is stolen, you send from another phone (the one from your list) a SMS message or a call to your phone.

    2) As soon as your phone identify the incoming call (CALLER ID) it automatically resend the last 5 phone dials via SMS for tracking purpose.

Unfortunately, our A1200 does not have build-in GPS technology, so it is very difficult to track it on the air...

Wish this was done before i lost my $250 E6

Though I really think this one should be made. I dont agree with your Idea droopy, I think the rocess should be automat[ed]ic.

The app should instead have a Password. On starting / Password entering, if its a new sim it should ask if this sim should be added to the allowable SIM lists. It should also have a list of Number's to SMS to when the SIM is changed.

When the phone is switched on with a SIM not present in the Allowable list, it should send SMS's

Is it just me or is the whole network connectivity based off of your SIM card? Given this fact, your phone cannot send nor receive calls/MMS without having a valid SIM, correct? Also, this would not prevent the initial theft...the hooligan would simply see the phone does not work, verify the phone is locked/unlocked for networks, then throw it in the river once they find it does not work.

Cool thought but probably not too practical unless you can hook up motion sensors and a 120 db siren.

Probably just locking your phone with a passcode/voiceprint would be sufficient enough for deturring the initial theft...this can be done in setup/security.

I was able to track my N95 using the symbian software "Guardian". Many friends of mine were able to do it too.

You have a point. The SIM should be a valid one. But consider this...

Thief sells the phone to someone who is a phone retailer. There are many people in India who can not afford brand new phones hence go for used ones. Unfortunately, in India, we do not have any mechanism till date to identify if the phone is stolen one or genuine.

The buyer then inserts his "VALID" SIM card and whoopsss... I get a message with his number, cell id, cell site id and the current network the phone is operating on. I told you earlier that I was able to track N95, this was not from the thief, but from a person who bought it. With the info from the buyer, Police were able to track the retailer and the thief and they both are now enjoying their time in jail.

This scenario brought me to a conclusion that the anti-theft software works, really works.

BTW, I have already enabled Voice Print and also the SIM PIN. But that does not stop from loosing your phone. With the anti-theft device, you atleast have a chance!

Tried. Does not work on A1200. The issue is on the touchscreen support. Also tried JAM, the software thats listed in A1200 forum to no effect.

Can someone modify this package for touchscreen support?
