Count me in for the $60.
Hi!
I am posting this to gather some feedback about the interest of having OpenEZX running fully functional on a1200/e2/e6.
As you all know, i would be glad to include support for these phones for free, but i dont own any... And working without a phone to test is a pain. :/
My idea is to place a bounty on bringing newer phones OpenEZX support to the same level of the a780/e680. If the bounty get a nice value(enough to buy a phone) and nobody started the work already i will buy the phone and do myself.
This is a win-win bounty, the work will be done, no matter who will develop, placing some $ on this bounty will only make things faster.
If there is enough interest to really open this bounty (my interest doesnt count) I put $20 on each phone model. Totalizing $60.
Waiting for community feedback.
Regards,
Daniel.

Come on guys! OpenEZX is our only way for OpenMoko, WiFI SD cards (SDIO in general), and a really free and supported native SDK. Not to mention a lot of other goodies we can only get by a 100% open software stack..![]()
And you forgot kernel 2.6 - in general, a much more battery-friendly kernelOriginally Posted by wyrm

i will not spend any money on this, because this will steal time for your A780-hacking
but i say wyrm can do many magick for your phones.
i like his work on the A780!
Thank you for your support swifty.Originally Posted by swifty
My intention on this is more to attract new developers than to get a phone. If somebody wants to work on supporting a1200/e2/e6 for OpenEZX, can count on my help AND with the bounty money..
If we had a1200 on the same level as a780, i am sure we would attract more developers to get the whole kernel to a useable state. Supporting the newer phones is good for the whole project.
I'd put $100 down for A1200 if it has the features you guys say it can. And i stipulate that it need to be done (at least beta) in at least 2 years. I'd really like to see this come to fruition.

This bounty is to extend newer phones support to the same level of a780/e680.
The OpenEZX project aims to providing a new KERNEL, 2.6 based to EZX phones, not GUI, not SDIO, etc...
The Kernel is the initial step to support a lot of goodies, but not the only one.
Please, see http://www.openezx.org and get informed about the project, if you still want to put $100 on this bounty, drop me a note.
Ahh.. Just to inform the interested people, there is already 3 guys working on a1200 support for OpenEZX, (besides me of course). AlexZhang has just fixed the PCAP driver, and people are working on TF support.
Hi!
Just to report what was done already..
A new developer, Alex Zhang, is working on A1200, his nickname on MotorolaFans is Heha, he got working USB, LCD and TS.
Prepare your pockets gentleman, i think that he will soon win this bounty.
The bounty target changed a bit.. As the goal is same level of support as a780/e680, and on a780 sound is now supported.
Thank you guys for supporting our Open Source development![]()
