Thread: A780 vs A910

    Default A780 vs A910

    Hi,

    I'm currently testing a A910. I need some advice :

    - there are forums for A780 and A1200. There are available softwares for those models and their different firmware levels... but very few information about a910. Is the A910 to be considered as similat to A780 or A1200 ?

    - I've downloaded the mpkg software, unzip it and put it on the .system of the sd card. And then ???

    Thanks for your help,

    Patrick

there is not much known about the A910.
    http://wiki.openezx.org/A910
so you have to check it out by yourself.
maybe some of the tools here around may work with a little luck.
for basics you can start in the wiki:
    http://www.motorolafans.com/index.ph...wiki&Itemid=54
check also the E680 section the A780 and E680 are mostly the same.

at first you have to setup LinLoader.

what is opera saying about your system?
    opera>options>file>about>more

i think if some good hacker can get his hands on such device it is possible to run some of the linux programs here around.

a very intresting mobile you have (wifi)

AFAIK, the firmware of this phone is R57_G_10.07.07R.

Opera reports that system is amv5tel, 2.4.10_mvlcee31-mainstone_pxa27x

This should be an interesting phone but currently, the wifi is not running well. This phone was sold by BT. When I try to connect to wifi at home, the phone is connecting to the wifi modem, getting a IP address and then sends a message 'Could not connect to the WiFi netword: $myessid'. I suppose it is doing more than just connecting to my network...

At first, I should be able to telnet or ssh into the system. I'm able to configure usbmodem, and ping the phone. Unfortunately, no telnetdaemon is running on the device.

So, to install telnet or sshd, I must install linloader, but I get into trouble to understand the howtos : how to make the link between the files I put into the .system directory of my sd card and the menus of the phone ? There is no /.system/java/PlugCardDB file.

you can install a java program to see if the PlugCardDB will be generated.
or maybe the file is on another place, or has different name.
look for a file that has a structure like in the wiki.
(evtl. a grep for 'AppLinkRecord' may help)

do you have the .system/QTDownLoad/ folder?

bad thing is the missing telnetdemon.
you can copy the files on masstorage mode also.
but i have no idea on the missing PlugCardDB.

    good luck!

    Hello,

I'm sorry to get this old one up again, but as I got an A910 (also BT, same FW-Version, too) I would like to ask whether there was any success regarding WiFi and software - I didn't try out software yet, heard that E2 software could be working, as these to devices are running an at least familiar OS.
