Thread: What about an A910 section?

  1. #1

Default What about an A910 section?

I signed up here some time ago, but today it´ s time for a first post.
I am an A780 owner for two months now and found this forum quite helpful.

Yesterday I ordered a Motorola A910 phone (Yes, they are available, at least in France (Orange) and the UK (BT), and if you search british or french ebay, you might find one . they're not to expensive... ), and I know there are very few people, that have this phone yet and are registered here.

I think that a section for this phone would be really nice, as it appears to be a really nice phone (it's not in my hands yet)... and as there is those LJ-Section, I think an A910 section would belong there (Rokr E2, too, BTW)..

That's my suggestion, thanks for this great helpful forums

A910 is actually quite an old phone and I think its already out of production. The population of people having it is very little, but I wouldn't mind adding in a section if just 2 more person requests for it here. get them to reply here can you? =)

reason why i am not opening it yet: the main page is getting too long for scrolling!
    My favorite Motorola development site!

A910 is'nt LJ its JUIX like the E2, same apps will work on it.

    @aksd
Sorry, but I sometimes mix things up. Is there a discussion about JUIX - LJ differences anywhere?
@admin: I can understand that. As long as there are not enough people, I'll just use the "Other Motorola Phones" Area, if I want to write anything about A910.

Its an easy mistake to make peter, since Motorola themselves tell the pbulic that the A910 and E2 are LJ when they're not.

JUIX is basically the development or interim build of LJ. It's basically a A780 core/kernel with the Chameleon UI ported onto it. Something like the new Z8, UIQ3.1 with a non touch screen interface, similarly the E2/A910 is the non touchscreen variant of the A780 platform. It uses the same V2.4 kernel and has a similar file structure using cramfs file system

The LJ is basically a version 2.6 kernel, with the same Chameleon UI, LJ comes in several variations V6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 7 and so on. Its designed around an ARM11 processor, and according to my inside sources is more powerful than the previous platform. Current V6.3 phones are the Z6 and the V8 while the first V7.1 phone is the supposed E8.

So basically you'll be able to run some nice programs on your A910 from www.e2mod.com or www.motohell.com, at the moment its a better buy than either the V8 or the Z6.

Thanks for that great explanation, aksd.

Today I received my A910 I bought on ebay, just one question: Does anybody know a source for the phones user manual, just to be able to use the functions that are a bidden hidden in strange menus?

And another question: If there's anybody of you finds an unbranded firmware for A910, please tell me. Not that BT branding is too bad, but it's always nice to have some firmware .

I'll open an A910 thread in "Other Motorolas" soon - when I got a little more familiar to this nice looking device.

    Default A910

I just bought the same phone, the A910, and like it very much. I too am looking for a users manual...there must be one out there somewhere. I have managed so far by looking at similar ones, but I really would like to know about all the bells and whistles.

I also bought a 2gb memory card for this phone, with adaptor which goes right into my laptop and Nikon camera. Good back up and dowloading and can store video and music too. I had to fiddle around a bit to find out how to change the storage options.

I would be interested...I just received mine but without a manual there are a few things I am finding difficult.

Default found the manual- got igeekmod on but no USBLAN

Hi all, I found a BT manual which I'm attaching. It is not detailed but was the only one i found.
I also installed igeekmod firmware and Wifi works good on this and can now connect to any network I want. Note: Only WPA1 seems to be working, could not connect to WPA2 networks.
Now the problem i have is connecting my A910 so it can talk to WindowsXP. There is an option in MyToolBox called InedtD, which I assumed was a login script for telnet, but it doesn't seem to work. i have tried to contact the author of the firmware (p3t3r) but have not had any replies.
If anyone is runnng this firmware and has been able to connect their A910 to the PC could they pls reply and let me know how they managed to do it.
    thankyou

    Hi spock,

well, I can't answer immidiately always, sorry for that.

I'll try to connect my A910 (using igeekmod) to Windows XP today via telnet, let's see if I will have the same problems. If I can figure out what's the problem, I'll release a new build of "i - geekmod".

WPA2 does not work because the firmware is just too old - at least that's what I'd guess. BTW: There is a page that claims that it is supported.

    @motorolafans team:

There are some A910 users in here now, so what do you think about an A910 section now? You know, there is a Z10 section with almost no members, so this should be possible, don't you think?

And it is needed, as the Other Motorola Phones > Other Motorola Phones section is only accessible via search - which is quite bad, as this thread
is even harder to find now.
