It would be great to use the A780 as the remote control for TV with the help of JAVA program and external Bluetooth to Infrared adapter. Learning function would make me crazy... Any ideas how to arrange for it?

Hello!
Bluetooth to Infrared adapter? Never heard about such a thing. Does it exist?
With a PALM it is possible to use it as remote control. I would recommend to buy an old PALM or Handspring Visor in order to use it as remote control. A Treo 650 or 600 should do the job as well, if you want to have a telephone as remote control.
Kind regards
Fred
Nothing moves you like a Citroen!
Great idea.
Done a little digging, and if you get your TV through a TV card on your PC, then this might be what you want:
http://bemused.sourceforge.net/ - control your computer from your mobile with bluetooth
With a bit of clever programming you could probably get bemused to run lirc commands:
http://www.lirc.org - Linux Infrared Remote Control
or equivalent.
How you'd then wire this together is an issue of home interior design, but if you get it working, take videos. Live the dream.
This is great
Next question: How do I connect a Bluetooth dongle to my kickass flatscreen LCD TV and how do I install linux (or Windows) on it ?Thanks

You do not need any Bluetooth dongle. I just thought to have the JAVA remote TV program for the A780 sending Bluetooth signal to an external Bluetooth to Infrared adapter placed in the same room as TV. Because of Bluetooth (A780) you could easily control your TV/DVD... through wall. I personally saw controlling model car by Bluetooth mobile phone. Somebody experienced in electronics could know how to build the Bluetooth to Infrared adapterOriginally Posted by magnum77
