i tried this
but...
cannot copy route to /bin, do i need to use chmod?
If you want to browse the net on your phone on USB the easy way you can do the following.
Get the A780-Utils pack or the attachment (you will need route)
Telnet to your phone and type
# export PATH=/diska/bin:$PATH
# route add -net 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 gw 169.254.142.1
# echo "nameserver 62.108.1.66" > /etc/resolv.conf
Share your internet connection in Win-XP.
---
Goto your Network Settings and open the ehternet card properties of your controller that's connected to Internet.
In the last tab you will see a checkbox to share the Internet connection, enable it.
Apply it and open your belcarra ethernet card and get the TCP/IP properties.
Set it all to Auto (IP and DNS) and Apply.
---
Back on the phone;
Make a profile in the build in browser with nothing set but the name (all ip's go to 0.0.0.0) to keep it from complaining.
Done.
Edit: added exports to make it complete.
Edit2: Forgot a /
Edit3: Removed lib's and QT exports (not needed for only this)
Edit4: Added attachment.

any info if any such method can work for E680i?

of course you cannot copy it to /bin, that's part of the frozen filesystem that we cant write to (yet...). I think you should copy the route application to /diska/bin (or somewhere where you can write it and then make sure that PATH is pointed to it)Originally Posted by domagoj

thanks for the tips but in your instructions above i am not sure why you need to set the QT directory; i may be wrong but i don't see why "route" or "echo" need access to any qt bins or libs, am i missing something?

I usually copy paste these 3 lines so if i need to start an application like qonsole i can.
Didn't think about it any more.
This trick will work on the E680 but i don't know if the buildin-browser will work. (i'll try on my friends E680 in about one hour)
PS. if you require a proxy to connect to internet you need to set that address and port in your opera profile.
I don't know why they call it Primary Gateway and Secondary Gateway but "Primary Proxy" and "Secondary Proxy" fits the description better.
