  1. Default no luck using mpkg installer, linloader (does nothing), etc

ok, i have an a780 and that's all i know.....nothing in the FAQ or my searches to find out which firmare version, etc.........i've added a few java games from here and that's about it..........

i've installed linloader, gotten the "pass" text and that's fine, but i can't seem to use it for anything else.....

all .lin files seem to do nothing whether i tap or hold it.....linloader seems to be installed fine, but i dunno

i've installed mpkg installer and went through all of that....everything SEEMS to be fine, it will install .mpkg files but they don't seem to do anything afterward....a nice, useless icon

snes doesn't work, doesn't seem to be able to comprehend anything other than a few java apps.........

i've read and read and nothing answers my questions and all the "links" i wanna use are dead......i get the "motomodders has moved" page with the big maintenance banner

so, any suggestions? reading is getting me nowhere, what works for others doesn't work for me, i can't telnet, i can't set up to telnet because i can't select manual dialing, etc.........

i know cars, let's see if you experts can figure this out

first, how can i just find out what firmware version i have

check your firmware by entering WWW008W in the phone app.

This will start usbnet. From that you should be able to telnet to the phone providing you have usb network drivers installed on your pc:

    usbnet.lin

    #!/bin/bash
    ls -l /proc >> /mmc/mmca1/usbnet.txt
    echo MotNet > /proc/usbd-switch

i've tried that ^^^^ and when i open that file with linloader, nothing at all happens and from what i can tell, it is working according to the test but other than that, who knows.........

and when you say "enter this in the phone app" what are you talking about

Or you can use qconsole to get into the file system from the phone instead of telnetting and run the commands above.

The above script will create a new file called usbnet.txt on your transflash card. If that has been created then usb net has been started. Then it's up to your PC side

and when you say "enter this in the phone app" what are you talking about
w == menu->insert wait from the phone dialer screen. Since it only stays on the screen for a second, it's easier to do www008w then add and delete a digit to refresh the screen, rather than remove the last w and add it again.

the above script does nothing to my phone, linloader obviously isn't doing the job the "TEST" says it is........

and i still have NO CLUE what you're talking about concerning finding the firmware..........

explain to me what you're talking about, the phone, the pc, an ayeaye in the middle of the jungle, what

    you're a teacher, i'm a dumb, dumb student......assume i know nothing, because i do not

all that COULD help me isn't available on here anymore........

Oh dear... Right. Pick up your phone. Close every window. Click on the 4 telephone icon in the top right, click on the bottom left menu. one of the items is insert, hold that then slide over and let go over wait. a "w" will appear in the telephone number field. do that 3 times. then press zero twice. press 8. insert another wait.

If you put the pointer on usblan.lin, hold down until a menu or something pops up, and then say open with linloader, does it make a difference? Also, if you create the script on windows (god forbid), the line endings will be wrong which could mess up the script potentially. Ideally there should just be a linefeed at the end of each line, not crlf.

lol, there you go, thanks.....but i got the phone's info finally, and i always open it with linloader (open with-linloader-nothing)

yes, i created the script with windows so i'll check that.....now i'll figure out what a linefeed is and go from there........

funny how people here come across a bit condescending about this stuff though.....how many on here can convert a t3 and a t4 into a t3/4 with a specific a/r or how many can convince a copperhead to breed with a cottonmouth............this is all just another thing......people willing to learn and willing to search should be helped......not everyone's fault that the search function brings up a lot of things that don't exist anymore since the site changeover or whatever

i appreciate the help, i'll do my part, believe me
