Tap on the bar, where You can see the satellite dish symbol. Scroll down and You shall see the "GPS" option with a dropdown box next to it.
If the "Off" option is chosen and You see the red line on the satellite dish, choose "On". If You don't see any dropdown box next to GPS option, then probably Your phone hasn't got a GPS chip, or the flex cable is broken.

have a look here MOT-A780-03 Motorola A780 OEM flex cable- Alcatel, 3G, HTC, Mobiado, Motorola, Acer, Accessories Store, Samsung, Apple, So for the flex cable or have a look at ebay. and you need to disassemble the phone in order to replace the old flex cable

is any way to manually turn ON the GPS?

if i tap on the bar, go in the "GPS" option ...there is no ENABLE option. it just says GPS. and that's it. above is the TRANSFLAS CARD with the an option REJECT, but no option for the GPS...

the long story is that i recently bought this phone, the GPS worked. i tried to delete the content of the card, and i accidently deleted COPILOT files. i managed to re-install COPILOT and now it remains somehow blocked to finding the location, while the GPS symbol has a red bar on top.
so i believe that the GPS is not turning on...
does it have an issue if i am not in the country from where the map is?

Has nothing to do with copilot. Change the flex cable in the most situation it will fix your problem.

but the fact that i can not make any phone calls due to credit on my card can have smth to do with it? i've read that A GPS uses GPRS?
i'm using an old Pre-pay SIM card with no credit on it, no gprs settings installed...no nothing.

i never tried with an empty sim.
    gps works without sim-card.
so take the sim out and look if you have the red bar on the satelite.
(like Halftux said it is mostly the flex cable)

but, last week, when i bought the phone, the map was loading...
i did not use the phone too much, being the second phone...
probably its hard for me to believe "my luck"...(

i'll try changing the cable. if you have any idea...

can the GPS be turned on manually?
