That's why I take Linux, because what does not fly can not crash.

There are no maps, but it's only 25 MB :P
The Software is running great. Tell me if there is any progress with the sound, please. Up to now, I was only able to use version 6 maps with this TomTom. In order to use more recent maps, do I have to use another TomTom Version or a special procedure to activate the maps? I tried to use version 8 maps, but it looks as if they are not recognized at all ...
@kuddel, nice to see it's working for you.
You should use your latest maps for Navcore 7.162.
Neither Navcore 8 nor Navcore 7.162 with 8 version maps worked for me.
For sound support we'll need help, because TomTom uses it own driver module.
I found an implementation for another handset, so porting is needed.
@wyrm, please could you help us? I've attached source code (coolsound-0.1.tar.gz.zip).
I've also uploaded "fake" tomtom drivers (tomtomdriver-0.1.tar.gz.zip).
I'd be nice to get gpio, hwstatus and battery driver working too.
@jorgesmm: Is it possible to also port TomTom to E6/A1200 phones?
It uses the same EZX core, but we need the bluetooth option to be enable.
TomTom source is linux and free, so maybe we could port it to our phones.

@Droopy, yes it should work, but there is something that could be a problem for you: E6/A1200 have a 18bpp screen.
I know androidezx made a framebuffer patch for a1200 (see android 0.9) that included double frame buffer, so it could be possible that TomTom worked even better than in a780
Apart from that, you should only need to start bluetooth following these instructions: Bluetooth - OpenEZX :
echo -e "AT+EBTP=1\r" | nc localhost 7104
hciattach /dev/ttyS1 bcm2035 460800 flow 01:02:03:04:05:06
It didn't worked for me (I don't know why but for example wyrm could get it working on his a780), that's the reason why I haven't included it, sorry.
Then you have to use rfcomm to connect to your serial gps bluetooth receiver.
If you are using /dev/rfcomm0, you have to copy it to /home/tomtom/dev/gpsdata
Edit /home/root/start and comment gpsmux line (you can include here your new bluetooth comands).
Finally, restart your phone and then it should worked for you. If so, please tell us.
@jorgesmm: Thanks for the excellent explanation and tutorial. Seems you are a software engineering with professional skills. Unfortunately, i am not an expert with linux.
Hope you could fix the code to work in A1200/E6. I know TomTom has many maps to download and maybe this is the solution instead of using Destinator or NaviOne that has Chinese maps only nowadays.
Thanks again and hope more coders and developers gives you the necessary support to port the sources to A1200/E6.
Excellent Work.
