Same Q here !
Hi fellas
Just wntd to chk with you all. I was informed at time of buying A780 that the webbrowser is also Java enabled but whenever I go to a website with java I get the message that I should enable java on my browser. also i can't find an IM on my phone. Does the phone come IM pre-installed or one needs to download & instal one.

Same Q here !
Depending on your firmware version will determine whether or not your phone has IM installed. I know that Taiwan versions of the phone didn't have EDGE or the IM client while Hong Kong and European versions of the phone did. You can flash your firmware to the latest to obtain the IM client and EDGE but if you want my personal opinion, the built in IM client stinks.
As far as Java enabled browser, I don't have experiences with this. If you can provide me with a java enabled website to test please post and I will test to let you know if the latest version of the Opera browser for the phone will work.
Java on webpages is javascript ... a special version like applets from the standard edition of java. It needs the vm (virtual machine) or sdk (software development kit) of java to run.
A handy have MIDP ... a special mobile version. It is much shorter than the standard edition on computer and have not all packages like the big one.
The MIDP version on mobile devices is for running applications or games, not for other things like scripts on web pages.
Sorry for my bad english. Hope i could help you.
