Default use gps to locate speed traps ("blitzer") in germa

    Hi everybody,
in my opinion the gps navigation software (alk copilot) included with the German version of the A780 is pretty cool, especially when it comes to the notification of known speed traps .
Unfortunately there are no locations of speed traps shipped with the German maps of copilot.
Fortunatelly the Desktop Software allows importing of own files.

So this is what you have to do (I'll note the German menue items with the possible English translations):

1.) start the Desktop Software "Copilot Live".
2.) go to "Menü / menue" -> "Eigene Ziele importieren / import own ???" -> "Aus einer bestehenden Datei importieren / import from existing file".
3.) select the file with the speed-traps-list (maybe you want to use the one provided in this posting ) -> select first: "Reise & Transport / journey & transport" second: "Blitzer / speed trap"
4.) as seperation mark you select "Komma / comma"
5.) click on the header of the first row and choose "Längengrad / longitude", click on the header of the second row and choose "Breitengrad / latitude", click on the header of the third row and choose "Name / name"
6.) finish the import ("Ende / finish") (this may take a while)
    7.) Got to "Route / route" -> "POI-Hinweise / POI-Notice"
8.) Check the box to show the POIs nearby, select 1/2 km or 1/4 mile (you can choose what you prefere here), select all the street kategories, select how many POIs you want to see (maybe take "Alle / all" here), hit the "+" in front of "Reise & Transport / journey & transport" and mark the box in front of "Blitzer / speed trap" -> "OK"
9.)Use the "Daten Download Programm / Download-Wizzard" to transfer the corresponding map (e.g. "Germany") to the TransFlash card. (if the map is already on the card, simply overwrite it).
10.) On your A780 start the copilot software -> from the menue choose "Optionen / options" -> "POI Hinweise / POI notification", mark "Aktiv /aktive", select "0.5 km" (or whatever you want), mark the box in front of "Blitzer / speed trap","Speichern / save" and you are good to go!

There are stationary and mobile speed traps in the provided file as well as distance controlls. So don't wonder if there are speed-traps marked in the map which you can't see at the actuall location (maybe they are mobile and just sometimes on location). The data was merged from several files where the traps where seperated into the different speed limits.

Legal notice: I'm not a lawyer so I can't tell you, whether you are allowed to use this data or not. Inform yourself!

Any feedback whether this was helpful and worked for you is welcome.

Realy cool, 11500 Blitzers, works for me.

But the installation is a pain, copilot is realy slow importing the file, so dont hurry, just smile and wave...

@tgrund: Did you convert this from another format? (Tomtom?). If so, could you tell us how you've converted the original file into this CSV format?

(I really like to hear that there's an easy way. )

Yes, the phone alert is ok when you are near a speedtrap.

Yesterday, i have tested a plugin for BeNeLux with 2686 Fix Stations.
    Go to http://www.radarfalle.de/software/garmin.php
and download the file. (every day a new file for Central Europe)

But it´s only for registered Users...

I've removed the file since it seams to contained info from another site who do not want there files to be published.
Eventough I've created this file myself, I felt it was the right thing to do

I got a csv file first...but that one didn't work...it placed everything in one big row...

The txt file wants to seperate with a comma, but since it only contains 3 values it says it needs adres, name, city, country etc...so that one doesn't work for me either
