thanks maxx. I'll need to figure out howto do that from a binary/shx file. Will try to understand the flash map, FAQs wud have definitely helped to come up on same page as everyone... will start doing my part for the FAQs atleast.

btw mack, though am getting opera connected, its a bit wierd. After setting up ppp and running MackInetBT, opera just says connecting - ifconfig shows gprsv0 up. Then, with opera still on, I click on MackUnInetBT, ifconfig doesn't show gprsv0 anymore. But now I get connected to internet. Any idea why is it behaving this way? I'll debug it too.. for now my phones connected!!!

    PS: I don't have a GPRS

Right. I'm modifying the kernel with modules, changing dirs with --bind, changing programs by runtime code-injection (using ptrace(2)) and so on.

However, I'm working on a modified firmware based on unionfs, that will allow changes in ANY directory. With that firmware in place, we'll never have to reflash again (unless replacing the actual kernel, which I also plan in order to include FP emulation if I manage to get it working).

    mack,

Just wanted to give you props for making the most useful set of tools by far for the A780 I'm writing this message now from my FC4 box through my USB-connected A780 (btw, browsing @ EDGE speeds isn't half bad) and everything was as simple as could be (aside from the occasional leoPPP probs).

The great thing is, for those of us in the States on Cingular Blue (AT&T Wireless), there's the mMode Unlimited plan, which allows for any amount of EDGE/GPRS data for $25/mo. Supposedly, you're not supposed to be able to 'tether' phones like this under this plan (they have a much more expensive 'tethering' data plan) but since the A780 doesn't have a separate GPRS profile for this type of connectivity (even if you use GPRS-passthrough from MPT), no one's the wiser

Now to hook all this up to my car PC for true mobile connectivity

    You're most welcome.

Its hard to find the time but I hope to release some more stuff soon.

Good luck with your car PC.

You are getting ripped off! I am on Cingular Orange and I have unlimited mMode for $19.95/month. You might want to check on this. It could save you $60/year.

Yeah, MEdia Net Unlimited is $5 cheaper per month, but then I wouldn't get my corporate discount of 25% (I have too many Blue accounts and FAN/CDA discounts are only good on the primary). So actually I'm paying about $18.75/mo for unlimited GPRS/EDGE

    Hi,

i don't get it to work, although it looks quite simple.

networking via BT (eg. Telnet) works fine, but getting the phone into the network seems impossible.
Pinging works with my PCs eth0 IP and with the ppp0 ip. pinging the phone works too.
Pinging my router which is connected to the internet an serves my net does not work neither does internet.

maybe its because i've got no "direct" connection on this machine, but a routed and nat by my linux router?

    best regards

    ig-88

I guess its time now my phone loses its virginity status, need to flash the latest A780 flex for that video/voip phone.

Thanks Mack for that stuff. It works also fine for USB after changing the IP addresse in the scripts: 192.168.1.4->192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3->192.168.1.1.
192.168.1.1(PC) and 192.168.1.2(Phone) are the addresse when I connect the phone with leoppp on usb.

Mack: where can I get the sources of your kernel modules? It would be interesting to test some feature ideas without inventing the wheel again

    Florian
