    I second that!

Took me a while to get Windows to find my phone and talk to it, got that going, but still getting errors before the actual flash, thankfully It's copping out before it actually changes anything so while i'm no further forward, i'm not going backwards!

Hello i am sorry to say but as a noob you should not flash your phone.

There are two ways to flash your motorola. The first way is to use PST but therefore it doesn't exist any custom flashfile.

The second method is to flash with flashkit. There you will find custom flashes.
But now comes you first problem you will need linloader to use the flashkit.

So i suggest for you to try to install linloader first by searching this forum.
This is the first step to get away from the noob state and maybe to learn how the mobile works.
And after that try with neo/mpkg.

It's easier and saver to install linloader and neo as flashing your device !

I'm not a complete noob to flashing phones, i've done a fair few in the past but while I am new at the A780 i've done a good bit of reading on the process.

The main reason for wanting to flash is that the phone I have doesn't have CoPilot installed in it's firmware although the phone does have GPS.

Getting LinLoader on my A780 is a drag and drop. That's the easy bit. :/

Ronniet sorry this noob stuff was not for you only for people they want to flashing first without any knowledge about the phone.

So i would help you but never flashed the whole device with PST. But i will put
the part of the wiki from motorolafans here. Maybe you didnt found the information and it could be helpful for you.

    Requirements:
    -------------

    1.
PST 7.2.3. 7.1.1 will do. Program used to flash the firmware.
    2.
The latest firmware. (The file's extention is *.shx).
    1.
    latest UNBRANDED firmware is C5.AAP
    2.
latest BRANDED(China Mobile) firmware is C5.AEP
    3.
[Optional] e.g CG33, CG35, etc (These are actually parts of the firmware that are hacked which will give you extra features)
    4.
Motorola E680/E680i. Visit your nearest Motorola dealer if you don't have it.
    5.
    Usb cable. Comes with phone.
    6.
    Loads of guts

    Procedure:
    ----------

    1.
Install PST into its default folder.
    2.
Copy the patch file, crack.exe, into PST installation folder and run it.
    3.
There are more than 1 files to patch, so keep clicking next until done.
    4.
Extract the firmware, making sure you have a *.shx.
    5.
Put phone to USB modem mode and connect to pc.
    6.
Run Multiflashflex.exe located PST installation folder.
    7.
A bunch of drivers will be installed.
    8.
Select manually install driver and point to PST installation folders. All drivers will then be installed.(Don't hurry, keep clicking next, there are many drivers needed to be installed.)
    9.
You should now see your phone in the Device list.
    10.
In Flash setup, browse to the extracted E680i .shx file.
    11.
    Click start.
    12.
While flashing, it may try to install more drivers. just point to PST installation folder.
    13.
At some moment of time, it may look hanged or dead. IT IS NOT! just wait.
    14.
Optional step: When it says erasing flash, copy the extracted CG33 and CG35 files into the same folder where your original .shx is located. There will be a series of files there created by PST. Just overwrite the 2 files there. This must be done before erasing flash ends.
    15.
Depending on whether you choose to use the 2 CG files, it will show flash passed or failed in the status.
    1.
In any case, dont worry. Just exit multiflashflex and plug out cable.
    16.
Phone will still be in blue screen. just restart it, then master reset and clear just to be sure. default security codes 000000.
    17.
    Enjoy your new firmware.

    Hint:
    -----

The bootloader mode is for reflashing with Motorola's own PST software.
    A780:
phone must be turned off first....

Press down both the Jog dial Button on the left side of the phone and the camera button on the right.......

while holding both those buttons press the power button at the same time...

to turn on the phone and intiate bootloader mode....

no worries Halftux, no offence taken and no offence meant...

I finally managed to get my A780 flashed to the .74 firmware but i'm still getting no GPS icon in my status bar which is a bit odd. Even if the unit had no GPS hardware it should surely still display a little satellite icon in red or with a line through it? (just thinking aloud there)

Appreciate the wiki info Halftux, is there a link to the MotorolaFans wiki? Every link I click on for it gives me a 404

    Thanks again!

cg33 and cg35 files are a part of the full flash. So these optional step could be interesting if you wonna implement some hacked firmware parts. Otherwise you dont need them.

I need to change the name of cg33 from threesearch before replace the archive?
Is any way to unpack the shx file, replace the cg, and pack it again?
