Does Gps in A1600 requires GPRS?

Does Gps in A1600 requires GPRS? I hope it requires only the Gps signal.

No it doesnt require GPRS.
Not even a sim card in the mobile.

But ... this is for the default software it comes with i.e. MotoNav which I think has maps only for India and China.
Other apps that you can download from Internet like mgmaps use online maps and thus DO need gprs.
There is however possibility to make these use cached maps and you may do without gprs.
