Hi everybody
I've tried, like a lot of people here, to find an on-board GPS appllication (without using internet connection) which could be installed on our favourite phone
But, it's really hard !
First of all, I thought that I had found the solution with this app : sygic mcguider which works on UIQ symbian. I didn't know at this moment that the A1600 wasn't a symbian OS (I have mine for one week, I don't know very well linux's world and so I was thinking that linux or symbian was the same thing, but what a big mistake !). Of course, it didn't works![]()
After, I've finally understood (learned) that if I want install some applications, they must be compatibles with an installer application (pkg, jar ... )
(I don't understand very much the relation between the OS and the fact that the applications must have an "installer" to works.
For exemple, on my windows PC, if I install winamp to listen music, I don't need an other app to make it works.)
So, apparently to use the GPS we need a java's application, but against there are things that I'haven't understood, what's .mid files, what about the permissions, what's the script, what about the JSR 179, what I must edit ...
I really would like to understand this "universe" (don't know if it's the right term, but don't find another) and I hope that my thoughts are comprehensibles cause my english is not very good (but google is my friend).
So if someone will help me to understand, it could be great, thanks for your future help![]()
