Thank you for this mate.
Hello, I just wanted to announce that our company has released CyNAV for the Motorola A1600. The free version CyNAV Start Pack with moving map, approximately 30000 airport and navaid entries in it's worldwide database runs also on the A780 with GPS chip inside.
You may look at our website for more information or to download the application. Look in our support section.
Website is Aviation and Linux Software plus Services

Thank you for this post cytux!
But I have some problems to get this application started on my a1600... When I try to start it, it always closes itself without any warnings... All I can see, is the white Cynav-Logo for a short time...
My second question is: How is this application able to use the built-in gps-receiver on the a1600? I thought that's impossible because of the missing Location-Api "jsr-179" in a1600, which is needed when a Java-application tries to use a built-in gps-Receiver?
Greetings from austria
Jodli
EDIT
Ok, after I changed the permissions, I can see the "initilizing map data" until 1% before the application closes itself...

Hello Jodli,
if you follow exactly the installation instructions, everything should work. You need to change all the mentioned permissions, even if they seem to be set already.
Cheers

Thanks for your answer!
I don't think, that it's a problem of permissions. In the past I changed the permissions of my applications a few times, so I knew before what and how to do (and it's exactly the same like in the install instruction). The permissions are set correctly and my phone doesn't alert about missing permissions... The app only closes itself... Maybe it's a missing folder where the program need to save its files?
No, it's just the permissions. The jvm closes the application if there is a permission problem for jsr modules. After installation, the 3 file variables in the file must be changed and the 2 permissions in the app setup must be set according to the installation instructions in the right order. Just to look at them is not enough. It needs to click on them and chose them particularly.

lol I'm sorry. I didn't knew, that I had to tap on the permissions a second time. Thank you really much! That was the missing hint. Now gps is also working with other Applications too! Seems that there is a jsr-179 in the a1600...
Thank you very much!
Ur welcome and thx 4 feedback!

I recently purchased an A1600 and made some attempts to utilize gps without success. (I am in North America.)
From your post above, can you say which other [gps] applications you were able to get working? and what, if anything, you had to do in terms of configuration and setup?
I (like everyone else) is particularly interested in enabling gps in Google Mobile Maps (currently v.2.3.2).
Thanks.
