Same here. Or, if someone knows how to get google maps to install.
I just got a new a1600 and going through all the features.
The GPS feature was a great idea, untill I just tried using it. Seems the phone only comes with maps for southeast Asia (Honk Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, etc.) and maybe China. Now they have a link to a service for downloading more maps, but that site is entirely empty. Not one map available, not even copies of the ones which come with the phone.
Anyone have this phone, or any phone with the Motonav GPS software, and have North America maps or know where I can get one?
The GPS kinda sux without it.

I have a Ming a1600. I called motorola support line and told them that I ordered this phone online as it's not released in the states. They did not have any information on this phone. I mentioned that the phone has motonav and I need maps of the us. The maps that they have come on 2gb as card, it has all the software on the card. It cost $80. But they sent me one fee with free shipping. Problem is it won't load on my phone because files and the exe. are cab. Files, theses files are for windows smart phones. When I check the as card with file explored I can see all the information, but when I launch motonav it doesn't see any of the maps. When I put the card in that came with it it sees all the maps on the card as there in irl format or something. So I don't know how to get motonav to work.
Interesting! I emailed them as well, and they told me I was SOL. But that you have that is interesting. Can you load it to to a fileshare site and post the link so I can get it? I would like to try to get it to work
I would put On a site but I don't know any. If u could give me some I'll try and put the files from the sd card there.
Uploading files to megaupload.com, rapidshare.com, sendspace.com is free. I prefer megaupload myself.
Just take the files and put them all in one ZIP or RAR archive and upload them.

ok I'll try, I'll put the under motonav exe.cab
Kool. Whats the link for the file?
I can't put the files online yet, because my computer is in the shop, i am replying with my cell hope to have my computer back next week. sorry
The files are for the Windows Smartphones running Windows Mobile.
Unfortunately, Motorola does not release the maps for US or worldwide maps.
There is a project on the forum for porting TomTom linux version to A1200 and A1600 that could run ANY map worldwide.
Hope some Moto Engineer instead of making closed software, hs the idea to use a compatible map format (PC - A1600).
