Default motorola phone tools doesn't recognize my phone!

hi. i just bought my motorola a1200 like 2 weeks ago. i've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Motorola Phone Tools several times, and let it know that I would like to use a USB connection. Yet each time I connect my phone to my comp, I get an error message that pops up at the bottom of my screen that says, "one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

what do I do? this is really frustruating b/c I want to flash my phone, but my comp doesn't even know a phone is plugged in.

    two weeks???

it can be the usb cable that is with defect.

if you another equal cable will have some (digital cam), places it pra to make the test.

if to function, return in the store that bought the ming one and asks for to change the cable.
    Thanks.

also I thought about this, that I only found more easy to have a usb cable to test, of what to install everything of new in another computer.

but also it can be this.
    Thanks.

Another user on another thread recommended installing these drivers.
I can not tell you if it works or not, but I guess it won't destroy your computer if you install them
