Default Motorola Phone Tools Unable to recognize my phone?

It worked before but now it doesnt. I would open MPT and connect to the PC and another window pops up tryin to install the modem....it would keep trying to install the modem and then a window pops up saying Windows unable to install modem.

Also after MPT finishes it says unable to detect phone.

    what is my problem here?

I think one of the files for the driver is corrupted. If i were you i would uninstall MPT's and reinstall it. It should fix your issue. Also make sure you have the latest version. last thing.. try puttin it to modem in usb settings before plugging it in on your phone.
    Good luck

i will give it a try. I already re-installed MPT twice and still the same problem. I guess I'll try it again and do it this time with the new upgrade that pops up on live update.

have you tried another phone? Do you have some sort of back up phone or maybe a friend so you can see if its your phone or mpt's that doesnt work?

i think the problem lies in a corrupted file when it tries to recognize a phone and install the motorola usb modem.

I might have to try to delete everything associated with MPT and start all over again.

is usbsermptxp.sys a file associated with MPT? because it seems like thats a file i see everytime it tries to install the modem. I might have to delet that along with mpt if its safe to.

yea. I would also search for things in the registry editor. But if you dont know how to use that then dont touch it. Its just the best way to ensure that everything is gone.

ok i tried everything. I deleted all files concerning MPT. then reisntalled them. The problem is that everytime hardware wizard tries to install the modem it always fails and says that a file was unable to be found.

Is there a way to install the modem manually.
