Finally, I found the way to telnet into my A1200 from my Windows XP desktop. Here are the steps, if somebody is interested.
Get the USL LAN driver from "Downloads page" from this site. The file attached needs to be installed on your phone using MPKG installer. This file is not written by me, thanks to the author.
1. Put phone in modem mode.
2. Connect through USB Cable.
3. Open tnlg file in TransFlash/sbin directory with USBNet application on phone.
4. On asking, install the USB LAN driver on your computer.
5. Open command application from Start->Run menu on computer.
6. Execute telnet 192.168.16.2
7. Put login name as root
8. You are on the A1200 shell.
.
.
.
To exit from phone shell, type exit.
Let me know if you find this useful.![]()

It's great. But I meet a issue.
After installing the USBNet_A1200.pkg and starting the phone, I can see the USBNet has been installed. But I do'nt find tnlg file in TransFlash/sbin.
Any idea?
Restart your phone and tap on the USBNET application. I think this should work.![]()

Hi Folks,
I am tring to do telnet to my Ming.
I tried the following steps:
1. Installed inetd-a1200-v1_1.pkg on Phone.
This created a file "tnlg" in the /mmc/mmca1/sbin/ directory of memory card. And inetd icon in the Main mene of Phone.
2. Installed USBnet drivers.
2. Changed USB Mode to Modem.
3. Connected Phone to Computer using the cable.
4. Clicked on "inetd" icon. This created a network interface with the name "Motorola USB Network Driver".
5. ipconfig in the command line showed 192.168.16.1 as ip of "Motorola USB Network Driver".
6. Ping was successful to 192.168.16.2.
But when i tried to do telnet to 192.168.16.2, i got the following message:
"Connecting To 192.168.16.2...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"
My firmware version is: R532H2_G_11.20.12p.
From our forum discussion i found that some folks were able to do telnet.
Are there any more steps to do or my firmware doesnot support this?
Pls clarify me.
Thanks.
I got this same message initially and I found that the correct driver was not installed.
Please check using Device Manager. If it has a ? mark, you need to install the correct driver.
Also try restarting the phone and computer.![]()
Regarding the IP address, the application is made like that by the author. I dont know how to change the IP address. But is there really a need![]()
