How to manually select network while roaming?

I just bought the phone last week and I love it. I have 2 questions:

1. How do I select a network of my choice when I am roaming?
2. Can someone again post the method to increase the volume of the phone along with the files?

Follow the path

Tap Dial Pad --> Menu --> Setup -->Network Setup --> Menu --> Search Setup --> keep Search Network By: Type as 'Manual' while u r in roaming
