    Default Programs on the A1200

I will be getting my a1200 pretty soon (hopefully by next month)

I had a simple question though...
What programs come with the phone already?

And are there programs you can install into it?

I think it depends by what you mean by "programs". The A1200 is a lunix based device so it has lots of underlying programs, like bash, ls, etc. But they aren't easily accessable from teh GUI. The GUI also comes with applications, like a notes, email client, realplayer etc etc. But nothing like word or adobe or anything. Applications are installable but they are for the most part Java (J2ME/MIdlet) applications, that is Mobile Edition java applets, there are quite a few out there but not all with work with every phone. Lucky for us the A1200 runs and Intel processor, but I'm pretty sure it's and XScale (which is only intel cause they developped it, they have since sold that division) and it's based on the ARM arch, not the x86 like a windows machine is. SO the code (eventhough Java is suppose to be platform independant) that isn't always the case. I know if your search the forums there are lots of threads on applications that work on the A1200 and things that partially work, and there are most listed all the time. Hope this helps...if you have a specific need in mind it might be easier for us to address that versus a broad outlook at it like I've just done.

That whole paragraph made a funny look on my face. lol <3

Well what I mean is.. What are all the little selections available on the phone when you're on the "application screen"?

My boyfriend wants to have like a money manager on the phone, (for his checkbook).

I'm on www.getjar.com right now looking through apps cause someone posted the link up.

hehe believe it or not that was me trying not to be techincal, sorry about that. Basically Alpha already answered your questoin, but my point was simply better to ask if it has somethign specific other then asking if it has what I need, since what I need differs between each user
