We should know soon, once the new Ming w/ Edge hits the market, then we should be able to find out if it's a matter of simply flash your Ming w/ a new firmware, or if it's more complicated...
I have got a hardware guide of A1200(attched),it is a chinese version,as describeed in it,the following key chipsets are used:
Baseband: Freescale's Neptune-LTE (ARM7 and DSP)
RF transeiver: RFMD's RF6025
RF power amplifier:RFMD's RF3178
All of these ICs can support EDGE,so I believe the firmware update or configration change could open EDGE function. Wish this info is useful to people who has more knowledge about Moto's Linux platform,it is appreciated for your great work!

Im working on translating the doc if there is no English version out there. Ill get it out in English as soon as I can. May take several hours to re-write it
