i think, this is the AIRTEL GPRS thread... anyway, thanks for your effort indiacam.... so make a new thread & post the MTNL settings there. It'll help people find the MTNL settings easily... it'll b hard for them to find these settings burried in an airtel thread...

I noticed before I wrote this post. I posted here to keep GPRS settings for Mumbai in one place. I dont know how to edit TITLE of the thread. Else I would have renamed it to "Different ISP's GPRS Settings for MING"

Will not that be a repeat thread then? I dont know the rules here. Moderators will ban me for repeat threads. isn't it? ever since so many months in this forum with so many new information and lengthy threads, I am un-noticed here and my flag says I am just another member, so better I take care of these things.

Don't worry about the status.... what's in a status pal... you are good, & we all know that... it's about helping people, not gaining status... isn't it???

Hey indiacam thats a cool writeup man.
well i called up airtel today and they said that they are not providing Mobile Office plan on a prepaid number in Delhi. But they confirmed that they are providing Edge here and the speed is 384Kbps
Well i'm using NOP from the day 1 it was launched and the best thing is that they deducted 99 bucks only at the time of activating this service and since then they have not deducted a single rupee from my a/c. And i'm using it without any problem.

MTNL GPRS SETTINGS FOR MING

Here is short working setting for MTNL GPRS. Putting here directly reading from my mobile. I mean this is tested and working in Mumbai and other parts of India, where MTNL exists, may not work other parts of India.

Profile Name :MTNL GPRS

APN : gprsppsmum (Prepaid Card holders)
APN : gprsmtnlmum (Postpaid Card holders)

User name: mtnl
Password: mtnl123

Timeout: 15 minutes

IP address (leave blank)
Port: (leave blank)

Leave blank all other settings below or defalult.

I used Alpha's script to enable edge, but since i'm using the iRok theme, I'm not sure if EDGE has been enabled, as it still shows G . I haven't activated my GPRSE yet, should be done by tomorrow night. Any help is welcome

whatever the theme is. Ming will always show E as declaration of EDGE connectivity. First MOD it and then try on different Operators.

See the screenshot below showing E in iPhone Theme.

Ok, I tried to put in the AIRtel simcard and check, but it didn't show the E. I removed the airtel, and put in dolphin and rebooted, and voila! I have the EDGE :P.. no puns intended. Thanks for your help!

lol...i face the exact same problem...in fact i called the hathway guy here so that i could switch to thier line....but after seeing wht they could offer...im in second thoughts...n now he wants me to pay 1000 bux for a cable modem plus other stuff for that line...so m stickin to pacenet for a while even though they are slightly crappy...m still confused big time man

OF COURSE THIS IS TOO LATE TO ANSWER BUT I MISSED YOUR POST LAST TIME. I WILL SUGGEST YOU TO GO FOR HATHWAY IF THE CABLETV SERVICE IS GOOD I MEAN THERE SHOULD NOT BE MUCH CABLE CUT PROBLEMS REGULARLY. Why I always appreaciate HATHWAY is for the cable guy is my friend and he pulled RJ11 cable (very thick 1 inch wide) specially for me and no one shares internet or tv on that cable from theier EDP section. I FEELS LIKE VIP FOR HATHWAY HERE

If cabling is ok there is no close match for HATHWAY SERVICE IN MUMBAI, HATS OFF to THEM. HATHWAY GIVED DEDICATED 256 LINE IF SAID SO, NOT A SHARED ONE. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, COZ USING IT SINCE 5/6 YEATS OR MORE.

HATHWAY IS DIRECT SERVICE PROVIDER AND PACENET IS KIND OF RESELLER THEY TAKE SERVICES FROM OTHER PROVIDERS AND DISTRIBUTE LOCALLY, AT SOME AREAS THEY TAKE HATHWAY'S 1MBPS LINE AND GIVE IT TO HUNDRED PEOPLE SAYING ITS 256 LINE TO ALL OF THEM. IDIOTS.

THATS GOOD NEWS! CONGRATS. YOU WILL SURE GET EDGE WITH AIRTEL AND THAT IS ON HIGH SPEED IN MUMBAI, CHECK ALL SETTINGS PROPERLY.
