Q: how to install Unicode ?

I'm using dictionary program ,but after translate,i can't read this because my phone can't support unicode (vietnamese)
please help me to install unicode ( 0.6p )

A1200 has unicode! The problem is, the font doesn't support vietnamese characters.
You need to exchange the font file on your phone with a one that supports it.

But you can only do that by modding firmware and then flash your phone with modded firmware.

I have a font file that supports more characters than the original, its from here:

So it should support vietnamese but I didn't test that


If you don't have problems with flashing, I could send the CG files with this font.
Just tell, what firmware you want to flash with.

I didn't use both 06p and 08p. But from what I've read here, you should upgrade to 08p or 46p anyway because of much longer battery life and better camera.
However I prefer 46p because there I dont have to save each picture from camera before I can make the next (this is a matter of taste only).
You can't recover but you can flash any other available FW if you don't like 08p (06p is available)

I found a maping file at threesearch and made a set of keyboard.gif files that should fit (I don't know unicodes for vietnamese letters so I didn't check each one). I modified the maping file to fit to A1200 (originally it's for A680). It is all in the keybord_viet.rar file

If you think you can't do that, I can do it for you but you have to wait until I find the time for this, so better try yourself.

With this modification you should have vietnamese characters each time you press the caps key on your keyboard.

The link above is RSD-Lite 3.2 I don't know about any issues with that. However I use version 2.8 and never had problems. Here you can have any version you want

It's not really difficult to flash and the guide in the stickies is quite understandable. What are you missing?

I don't believe that windows fonts work on A1200 but I don't really know
or did you want to try these fonts with windows? Maybe this could work, just try. When I doubleclick on the file I see an example display in my language!

I have just plash ver 0.8p,so this ver has unicode that not support vietnamese,i would like install unicode,can you guide me cleanly(i try copy this font to MyMing, locate in user/language/fonts,but it said that "full memory"+"operation false",so i think that only install this font when plashing,but i dont know,please guide me)
(while extract in plashing,i only saw many files with type that i dont know)

the "many files" that you could see in the directory where your flashfile is are the CG files. If you flash again RSD-Lite will extract these files out of the flashfile. Pull out USB from your phone when extracting is on 100% (if your fone is displaying red screen You have to hurry up before screen is switched off). Your phone will not be touched by RSD_Lite until this moment. Now copy the CG files into a different directory before you close RSD-Lite (they will be deleted when RSD-Lite is closed). You only need CG34.smg, CG41.smg and CG42.smg for the modification.

Yes now I had a look to the font with Win chartable too. It's a bit strange but I think the characters you need are there.
Windows Vietnamese obviously is not the same as Unicode. But selecting unicode I can't find vietnamese as category to look at. But I found some of the character codes in the .kbd file for vietnamese.

(guide clearly,what tool could view or change these files)
