Does anybody know if the card in the phone needs a format?

Well I ask this as does it leave bits behind when you uninstall a game or program like windows does.

Are you talking about disk clean up? Well you can always delete them through DC ( disk clean up) with windows when its plugged in. But there is really no need to format the card unless it becomes corrupt.
