Default how to select items using google maps on A1200

I downloaded and installed the google maps Java app on my A1200, it works just fine but wants numeric keypad input for its functions like moving from point to point on the driving directions. I have been able to use the the joystick controler to select options in the list menus, but when asked to press "3" to move to the next driving direction I cant select it with the joystick because its the only item in the list and I cant seem to virtually hit "3".

    any ideas?

ok, i recommend u to not use this app, better use mgmaps
    http://www.mgmaps.com/download.php
i use this with a bluetooth gps , but u dont need that, instead of just using the google services, u can use ALL availible services, geting high detailed maps ( and satellite maps of course also) from the world, today i used it to find my way through the streets of sao paulo ( brazil) , this app is MADE for the a1200, u can controll al with the 5 way navigation or the STYLUS.
get it, check it out, be happy

Yeah OK. Tried it but no traffic info, no driving directions, no normal address support, and the app runs really slow compared to google's. I think I'll have to keep searching. Thanks for the tip though.

Does that work on T-mobile $5.99 Web service plan or have to get $19.99 plans?

I recently switched to T-mobile fron Nextel... I signed up for the $5.99 plan and the google maps application works fine (besides the numeric keypad issue described above).

Has anyone tried this with a bluetooth GPS?

I'm wondering if you'd be able to put in addresses then?

I have a b-tooth GPS but it only works with apps that support GPS. Gmaps doesn't its just a map/search device. You can enter addresses in Gmaps and get driving directions but you can't navigate through the directions menus because we have no numeric input it understands.
There is an alternate app. Called mgmaps which is at mgmaps.com which does support GPS with google and other maps, and is fully a1200 touch screen complient but the developer has not added support for driving directions yet. Also the refresh time on the map data is very slow. He continues to make improvements and releases to the app so all we can do is support his efforts and hope that he has the time and motivation to add features and performance.
