    Default Running native applications...

Was anyone successful with running native applications on the A1200? I mean I know some applications are working (like zmplayer) but it does work with some phones, others not. Is there a more concrete way of running native applications? I don't want to have to install yan0's MPKG installer as I already have the files on the phone and added an entry to the CardRegistry. Is this enough or does yan0's do something other than copying the files and modifying the CardRegistry?

No, there is not a good way to create native GUI apps. Motorola has not released and SDK and so some developers have to hack the system to figure it out and compile apps for it.

Motorole reps have told me that the SDK for all these Linux phones won't be released ever, but they WILL give away an SDK starting from 2007 onwards for new phones.

Okay. Let me rephrase my question. If I have an already built native application for the A1200, how would I install it to the phone without using yan0's installer? Is there any other way of doing that? If not then I can see yan0's installer modifies the "CardRegistry" and copies the application files to some directory but does it do anything else? And why would I need that "contest" file with every application? It does add 200KB to the installation of any application which is quite big...
