    Default Upgrading/flashing/RSD Lite

Can someone please post an easy-to-understand way to do the following?

    (1) Get and install RSD Lite. Specifically, where do I find it? After that, where do I install it to?

    (2) After it is installed, how do I upgrade the firmware in my phone?

    (3) After the firmware is on the phone, how do I activate it?

    (4) Is flashing part of the activation? How do I flash the phone? Are there any risks to doing this? Will I lose anything that I have installed, like contacts, photos and games?

    Thanks!

    Default Re: Upgrading/flashing/RSD Lite

1 RSD Lite 2.8 @ megaupload or find rsdlite2.8.msi or sth like that in google.

download proper firmware to your hard disk, and unrar/unzip it to separated folder (there should be only one file in this folder i.e.
    R532_G_11.00.46P_GMZHNAN000AA012_LP004DC_RELSHAINAN_S073_E008_R001_G003_1FF.sbf

    2. Install it to your pc. I'm running xp sp2 dontknow how about linux.

    3. After installing - you have to install drivers for motorola.
    c:\Program Files\Common Files\Motorola Shared\MotPCSDrivers\
this is folder where they should be. You can install it manualy (harder way) or let rsd do it. So..

    4. Open RSD.
Connect usb to pc & a12000
Put a1200 into boot mode - push jogdial+voicedial+power on button in same time. You should se red screen with MBM FLASH MODE text

    5. Now your RSD should see moto, on screen in bottom table you should see some new text (when a1200 not connected in boot mode - you see nothing there, just empty space)

    6. tap button with "..." to show rsd where is fw file - point to this single foldered file.

    7. Push start.

Now phone is being flashed. On first time doing this - you will get some screens asking to install drivers. When it will ask you where are they - show folder with downloaded ealier files (In case you are using easier way and let RSD to install them). There are many drivers. After finishing installing them, flashing should continue.

This is from memory - for spec search for topic about flashing, it's sticky to top of forum i think.
