Gmail Pop3 with A1200 how to. (T-Mobile)

I started trying to connect with the T-Zones configuration, and it would not work.


So I used a different configuration for my internet:

1. go make a new internet connection under setup --> data connection.

(PROFILE NAME (can be anything you like)

(APN)
internet2.voicestream.com

(USERNAME)
voicestream

Leave the rest blank.

2. Go to your Browser and make a new profile using the connection we just made in step 1.


3. Configure your pop3

Go to "send" and put in the following configurations.

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:

smtp.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995

4. Go to "Receive" and put in the following configurations.
pop.gmail.com

Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
Account Name: your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com')
Email Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Password: your Gmail password

5. Now go to "connection" and put in the internet connection we already made, and you should be done.

do we have to enter a homepage when you create a new profile in step 2?

You can make the homepage whatever you want

i must be the last user unable to use my gmail pop3 on my phone.

i know my pop3 settings are ok. i verified them on Outlook.
i tried exactly the same settings on my phone email, but always says host not found.

I tried your suggested settings ... and it says calling ... but nothing is downloaded or sent...

what did i do wrong?

do i need to have the 29.99 internet plan?

I believe so, that is what i am using. I tries with the tzones setup, and it wouldnt work.

i got the internet plan & now it works.
had to use port 587 to send.

wow, $15 more to have email forwarded to phone? uh...i dont think its worth it. why dont you just use the browser to check by signing on?
