INFO: Seem edit A1200 is possible thru Radiocom 10.3.1

Don't worry a lot of people are interested and I'm one of them but I'm just watching and keeping an eye on the advances you make. Now I'm posting because you have made the first step forward, so I would like to ask, are you sure that the phone after your seem edit is EDGE compatible? if so how could this be possible? as this matter is a hardware issue and cannot be changed through seem editing.

I did that on the seem edit, I read somewhere the a1200 does have EDGE. just not enable, I can't verify this as I don't known what EDGE really look or act like!

Unlease someone let me known, or test out my seem and report back.

Have you tried to do any kind of Gain Table edit? To increase the speaker output?

Using RadioComm v10.3.1, I "rdelem" Element #0032 Record #0001, but my data feedback looks quite a bit different than yours (see attached)...perhaps it's b/c we're using different firmware (mine is at 46p). Anyway, I modified hex position 89 from "03" to "07" to enable EDGE, but when I tried to "stelem" back to reupload the seem, I get an error message "Length of data provided does not match the length field." Any ideas?

BTW, I was cross-referencing the A780 guide which suggested modifying hex position 89 to enable EDGE...is that what you did?

A gain table is nice.. But from what i hear generic 53p increases volume on the phone!! So im looking foward in getting my upgrade if i decide to go through with it...

set the data length to 200!

Make sure you change and apply the file that produced by radiocom not the one thats edited with the seem editor, as their format is not the same.

It is Length not data length, it's right under offset. Don't attemp to directly edit the seem with-in radiocom, as your offset will be wrong, if you look at the extracted seem from radiocom it is 1kb, the one that I hand codeed is only 512 bytes!

You're right! I am finally able to "stelem" the updated seem. However, I don't think EDGE is working. I uploaded both your version of the SEEM and my version (updating only hex 89 from 03 to 07). In both cases, my phone works fine but the bandwidth is still at 40kb/sec as was the case with GPRS before any changes. Also, the G symbol in the taskbar is not showing "E" as observed in other phones and suggested in the "draft" A1200 manual that was sent to the FCC.

I'm using Cingular in New Jersey...maybe Cingular uses a different server settings for EDGE (which I doubt)? Any ideas?

May be our a1200 don't have EDGE support. Could you verify see if time auto update works using my version of the seem? Since you are the first one that made it this far, and let everyone know this seem editing thing works!
