Before I flash with the new firmware can someone tell me exactly how to back up my contacts, I read use mpt what is that?

Also will I loose all my settings on the phone and need to set them all back up for mms, internet , etc.

MPT = Motorola Phone Tools


You WILL LOSE all your settings, so be prepared for that.

I also suggest to have your battery fairly charged up...if not all the way charged. I always prefer flash with a strong battery.

One more question for some reason I have not been able to get into MBM mode. I turn off the phone then power back on . Do I need to hold down the voice recognition button to get to the record button and then hold down the joystick with the red record button held down. It only seems to record. What am I doing wrong this should be the easy part.

You need to hold down the joystick...power and voice record ALL at once.

Ok, how do I get to the voice record button on power up, is there a hard key. I have to be powered up to get to the record screen.

Thanks for your help, the upgrade went smoothly with no problems, I am now setting up mms and medianet again but found I cannot make a phone call. My antennae is on, my GPRS is enable , my old sim card is still there but my id number is bank and antennae strenght is zero.
What have I done wrong? It seems if I have lost my Cingular information to still be connected.

Please help
