Default Opera Mini vs Integrated A1200 browser ...

I found Opera Mini operates in a lot noticeable faster speed compared to the integrated A1200 web browser ...

Is that any explanation why or how can that happened, because I think (Not exactly sure) the integrated A1200 is an Opera product as well, isnt it ?

so you are able to browse ok with Opera Mini 2.0? i can browse fine with the built in Opera, i can even download Opera Mini 2.0 and install it via wap but Opera Mini 2.0 won't browse anywhere, it just says "An error occurred."

ps - can't use Google Maps either

Same error happened to me, till I found help on Opera Mini forum ...

In my case, the problem lies in T-Mobile Data Network Setting ...

    If you're using T-Mobile, instead of port 9201, use port 8080 ...

If you're using other provider, I really have no idea

Besides the speed, the feature of Opera Mini is unbeatable, easy bookmarking tool, easy history access, 4-5 size options in downloading images, changeable skins, etc ...

the built-in browser is also an opera, they just named it 'browser'. opera mini is faster coz they recompress the images into a lower quality/smaller size on the server side, meaning you don't have to download as much to your phone, hence making it faster. i'm not sure, but i think they also do some html reformatting and maybe even remove stuff that won't show anyways.

but... opera mini is a java app and you can only run one java app at a time. the built-in opera is a native qt app. so both have their pros and cons.

oh, and opera mini works fine on my phone with vodafone gprs settings, port is set to 0 in the setup.

very cool, this worked for me...in your experience, has this port change effected any other app? primarily syncML or text messaging?

I just tried SyncML for the first time, I got some weird error, but I doubt that has to do with the port, I'm not exactly sure though, cause when I change it back to 9201 I still got the same error ...

As for SMS, I can receive and send SMS normally, but havent try MMS ...

PS : For SyncML error, I posted in other SyncML thread, if perhaps you can give me some advice to make it work perfectly, any input will be appreciated, thanks in advance ...
