i'm having the same problem as valkur.

i can browse the system folder, but can't telnet to the phone. i tried nc.exe, telnet.exe and putty. it just doesn't seem to log in.

update: not sure why, but it's working now.

update update: hmm.. telnet is quite useless, can't seem to access the important areas.

From what i've seen, most of the .cfg files are read only ... so changing settings, adding librarys, etc, etc is impossible.
In the A780 it is possible to unlock these permissions using the Flashkit software .... i've tried using it on Ming but without success.

Nevertheless, now with telnet working it's a lot easier to debug programs and executing scripts ... god bless good old prompt access ! lol

Noromamai : if you're able to access the phone's files using windows, then you should be able to telnet the phone issuing the command :

    nc 172.16.16.6 23
    My phones : V635, MotoPEBL, A1200

yeah, i got it working. not sure why it didn't before.

if you issue a mount command on the phone you will see what partitions are mounted where. the /dev/roflashX partitions are all read only (even if though they are mounted rw). but there are user config files in /ezx_user/download/appwrite/setup, these can be changed. but you can't access that dir from the telnet session. i had already copied 'vi' to the phone, thought i could edit the config files thru a telnet session (beats the hell out of writing scripts on the phone and running them), but no can do.

Figured out that I should have posted my findings here. I have a working telnet solution for the a1200 (see http://www.motorolafans.com/index.ph...ewtopic&t=4756): it is intended for all os (i.e. linux) and is not ip address specific (I use 192.168.1.2 for usbnet).
Things that I changed are related to telnetd called from inetd with a modified version of telnetlogin that was imported from the a780. Note that it is not possible to copy these files when in use...
I could not understand why some persons were reporting success with telnet using yan0 package since the inetd.conf was configured to launch a bash when trigering port 23...

Can someone email or give me an alternative link rather than a forum link to the files listed within this thread (yan0, lin, so on)?

    All corrupted.

    HI all,

I posted this question before in other thread, but I still haven't got any answers yet. I deliberately want to get the telnet working on my A1200, so I post it here again. Hopefully, someone look at thread can help.

I used to own a A780 phone and I already get most of stuffs working from here - USBLan, telnet over the bluetooth, sync the phonebook with evolution in Linux and etc....

Unfortunately, it was stolen last week. And so I brought a new A1200 phone, but I still couldn't manage to get it connected to my Linux PC. My phone's firmware revisiion is 48P.

Is there anyone out there can show me how to telnet to phone from my Linux PC? I already installed MKPG and Loader package onto the phone, and I tried the telnetd and smbd packages here, but it seemed not to work. Anyway what is IP address used by phone when it switchs to USB Lan - 172.16.16.6? It looked it is different from A780.

    Please help... Thanks.

    Hello,

I also would like to get some info how to get telnet up and running from a Linux PC. I am on A1200 44P generic and Fedora Linux Core 5. I switch the phone's USB Mode to 'Modem' and connect the USB cable to my notebook. I do see an entry /dev/ttyACM0, so that works OK.

Then I start minicom and set the serial device to /dev/ttyACM0. I issue the command:

    AT+MODE=13

The prompt returns an OK, the NetworkManager disconnects my connection from my wireless router (eth1) and creates a connection to the phone (usb0) with IP 169.254.227.150 (Although this number appears to be different every time I connect). Well, closer investigations shows that this new IP number now does not appear to be from the phone but from the notebook itself. So ... I am confused. The routing table now is as follows:

Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
    169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo
    169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 usb0

So my question is, if I am enabling usbnet the correct way and/or are there additional steps required?

Would appreciate if somebody who has usbnet/telnet working in combination with Linux can provide some advice.

I further noticed that the system also uses 100% of the processor while minicom is running, but that most likely is a different issue.

    Thanks!

Try setting the IP for USB0 to 172.6.6.5

169.254.x.x is used when the adapter doesnt gain a dhcp address.
