T-mobile will not make/receive calls/texts

Hello All,

I live in New York City and ordered my phone from Hong Kong.
Today I received my a1200 in the mail. I popped in my simcard (tmobile) and expected it to work.

I understand that my messaging will not work until I change the settings on my phone (as per a sticky post).

What I don't get is why I can't make or receive any calls.

When I try to call anybody I get a call failed.

When my girlfriend tried to call me it goes directly to voicemail.

I feel like crying, I'm so frustrated.

Is anybody able to help me?

I contacted t-mobile and we figured out that my phone was not communicating with my simcard. I had full bars and it showed that it was connected but would not place calls. I have contacted my ebay seller for an exchange.

Was the T-mobile rep right?
