How to turn on modem with WhiteMING

Hi,
I have not been able to get radiocomm, MPT, or any version of RSD Lite to connect with my phone. After much searching thru the posts here, I found one that says the auto launch feature for the modem does not function with the Whiteming firmware. There is a way to do this manually, but I can't find the folder or the command. Is it necessary to have the SIM chip installed while doing this? Please assume I'm stupid when relpying. I chose my name for a reason!

p.s.:modem works fine in whiteming
