I have just hit a new hurdle with my A1200. I took out my SIM card yesterday and upon putting it back in, the phone will no longer read my SIM contacts, nor will it open up my messages. When i click on the messages icon, a window appears stating WAITING ON DATABASE. This has been scrolling through for several hours now. Any help from anyone in how to get past this please so i can use my phone as i did before?
Hopefully

1. Power cycle the phone --> Switch off, remove battery for 2 mins, put back, restart, see if it works.
2. If it does not, backup everything and master clear and reset.
Post the results..
Have tried both solutions 1 and 2.
Option 1 did not work so reset and cleared using option 2.
The second option wouldn't be so bad if it didn't require it each time phone is turned off and on, followed by resetting a multitude of personal settings on the phone once complete. Any suggestions from anyone on how to make this a permanent process?
I'm still not even sure why the phone started doing this. It was fine during the first four weeks I owned it up until nowI loved this phone 24 hours ago, now I'm shaking my head. I'm leaving for UK in 2 weeks, and hope i have better luck there with another SIM and different service provider, yet i believe the exact phone model isn't available to purchase commercially there either. Hopefully i will learn some good lessons through this experience here
.
Ah, that's certainly not a permanent solution.
Have you considered flashing to a different firmware? Or maybe a reflash to the same one (if you like it too much)?
I remember seeing this issue posted in the E6 section a long time back, but i dont know if and how it got resolved. Do try the flashing option if nothing else works.
