    Default Q: Network time and vmail bug script question?

    Hey All,

    I applied it and noticed I'm an hour behind on AT&T network does anyone know if they offer network time or is one hour a correct lag for the script to "catch up" Alpha was saying it may take a week for it to work properly. I don't have DST option on my 1200 so I was hoping AT&T could straighten me out with this script + the feature Any info will be welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Also give the FW does anyone know of a FW I can flash to that has the DST settings options to modify the dates for which it occurs I heard that I can go from my C2 to the tracks for A1200E is this true? If so, can anyone confirm that I get this DST feature?
    Thanks again!

    I added the Network Time script, that adds Network time for Automatic Time from network. My phone has the old Daylight Time settings, first week in April,(4-1) & Last week in October, (10-5). The updated settings should be 2nd week in March, (3-2) & 1st week in November, (11-1).

    For DST on the 2nd Sunday in March, until the 1st Sunday in April, In the WorldClock, I change my local city 1 timezone earlier. I change from Los Angeles (GMT- to Denver (GMT-7).

    I've also found another method, but it's not a perfect solution. /ezx_user/download/appwrite/setup/ezx_system.cfg, has the old DST setting for the 3 cities selected in WorldClock. By editing those setting, the 1 hour behind is resolved.

    [WORLDCLOCK]
    DayLightSavingTime0 = 0
    DayLightSavingTime1 = 1
    DayLightSavingTime2 = 0
    LocalCityIndex = 0
    NITZ_OFFSET_ENABLE = 0
    NITZ_OFFSET_TIME = 6
    city0dstBias = 1
    city0dstEndRule = 0.0.2.7.1.11
    city0dstStartRule = 0.0.2.7.2.3
    city0name = Los Angeles
    city0zone = -8
    city0zoneMin = 0
    city0zoneSec = 0
    city1dstBias = 1
    city1dstEndRule = 0.0.2.7.5.10
    city1dstStartRule = 0.0.2.7.1.4
    city1name = New Orleans
    My home city,(city0) Los Angeles, now has 0.0.2.7.2.3, (2.3=2nd week in Mar) & 0.0.2.7.1.11, (1.11=1st week in Nov). Before the edit in had 0.0.2.7.1.4 & 0.0.2.7.5.10, just like city1, New Orleans.
    If I Switch from AT&T to TMobile, the time lags 1 hour and I advance the clock 1 hour to resolve. When I switch back to AT&T the time sync's correctly, so I'm wondering if Tmoble haven't updated DST.

    If I change my home city, the settings in ezx_system.cfg revert back to the old DST settings. When the home city is switch back, ezx_system.cfg has to be re-edited with new timezone month/week. Sometimes I have to toggle Auto Network time. By removing and applying, this forces a read of ezx_system.cfg.

    The best thing is to read the Guide to Flashing sticky at the top of the forum. It has all of the details on what firmwares you can safely flash to and what each fw has.

    That file changes when you travel and change cities in the world clock. I changed the /usr/SYSqtapp/worldclock/ezx_dst.cfg file to have the new DST changeover dates. I am attaching the file, but if you use it you may have to add the /usr/SYSqtapp/worldclock/ezx_zone.cfg I made. I added cities I frequent to both files. Copy files to /mmc/mmca1/ and add this to startup.txt:

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    mount --bind /mmc/mmca1/ezx_dst.cfg /usr/SYSqtapp/worldclock/ezx_dst.cfg
    mount --bind /mmc/mmca1/ezx_zone.cfg /usr/SYSqtapp/worldclock/ezx_zone.cfg

    I know what FW I can flash to my question was about functionality available in each firmware there's no good area that I've found yet in the forum that describes this for each individual fw. But thanks for the input and response.

    Paul thanks for the files the zone.cfg seems to update fine using the startup.txt with the code you provided but the dst isn't; I checked the properties of the file and it states that it was created way back in 1999 sometime and the zone says it was last updated 3/16/08 when I applied your fix. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

    Also do I need to have network time enabled when I'm doing this? How will I know that it fully worked my network time update will work properly? Thx for the coaching.

    Well we have done our best in the Guide to Firmware sticky - listing the features and pros/cons of each fw.

    The problem is that the authors do not provide release notes for their fw's - so it is a matter of relying on people posting their findings here or to other forums that we attempt to consolidate into the sticky.

    What type of information do you think is missing?

    It has been a long time ago, but if I remember right you have to change cities in the clock, exit and then start the clock and put the city back. I now know, thanks to rto1170 above, that the reason is that the old city settings are kept in the ezx_system.cfg until you change cities back and forth.

    I think the docs are great they've brought me from total newbie to dangerours nove

    It would hover be pretty sweet if we could get just a brief overview paragraph or statement that intros the key values or functions of a specific FW For example Motorola showed a screenshot of an A1200 that showed the ability to modify the dst dates from the setup screen I think it'd be cool to note if there's a fw out there available to us that has this feature or something similar that's all... The help by far on this site has been better than any other opensource forum I've played around on. Thanks for everything people.
