Q: Anyone done partial flash with CG4308p Firmware?

Has anyone used the CG4308p firmware (partial flash)?


I did so today mainly to run apps at startup which it does (using the startup1.txt file located in theTF Card) but am facing 2 petty but highly irritating (atleast for me) problems.

The first one is irrespective of which skin I use, when an app gets the focus in Application Launcher, the background of that app's icon always remains black. Usually changing he value of ThemeButton & ThemeHighllight in the PSKN file of the skin changes the background color of the selected icon in Application Launcher but I don't know why after partially flashing my A1200 handset with the above firmware, the background color of the selected icon in Application Launcher refuses to change & always remains black. Has anyone experienced this? Actually i am a bit too aesthestically inclined which is why I find this very annoying.


The second problem is I have enabled channel so that my phone displays the name of the area on the desktop where I am located (tap 3rd icon in taskbar & then tap Menu-->Service Setup-->Info Service). After flashing, instead of just displaying the area name on the desktop, I receive messages in my Message's Inbox with the area name!


Can someone please help me overcome these 2 problems?

I don't know how to help with your icon problem, but i've never seen the Ming display the area code in the Desktop. It receives info services as info services messages, that's for all firmwares I've tested so far.

What is your firmware that could display it before? Just curious...

I have been using 08p since I bought the phone & have always seen the phone display the area name on the desktop; never got it as a message.

Getting info service as a message - don't you find that irritating? Atleast I found it very very annoying since after every minute or so, a new message popped up in the Inbox with the area name even if I am at the same place i.e. the new message always showed the same area name again & again & again!

1. flap function not working even though i close flap

2. usb charging function not working

pls pls pls rep soon.
so should i flash again with original 08p fw or what?
or which another fw can i flash on 08p?
how much time will take for full flashing?

Hi Chetan - I realize that you are are having problems - but please do not post the same question in multiple threads. It just annoys people if they spend time answering in 1 thread and then see someone else has already answered in another. I have deleted some of your duplicate postings.

Regarding your issue - it sounds like at this stage your only options is to re-flash. The Guide to Flashing sticky should answer most of your questions on Flashing including what fw's you can flash to and how long it takes.

i tried the partial flash E6. there is no problem regarding highlighting. the background does not change to black.

I can't say about the info service, since i have not been able to activate it on my network (Vodafone, Kolkata). it gives "failed to add channel50". however i tried the info service with sim of another service and it showed the tower info on the screen. not as a sms.
