If you want to send some files to the recycle bin and some not, "shift delete" does not send files to the recycle bin, "delete" does.
This is some info that I posted on one of the other threads and thought that this might be useful to the general community at large.
Assuming that we are talking about Windows XP here are the info about the mysterious creation of "System Volume Information" and "Recycled" folders.
System Volume Information:
Created by - System Restore option in Windows Xp.
What is stored - Catalog information i.e. device status and states.
Purpose - The catalog info about the physical drive is used to restore it to a safer setting from history if the machine crashes.
How to disable - "My Computer->(Right Click)->Properties" or "Control Panel->System". Select "System Restore" tab and then select the drive that indicates your phone and then click "Setting". Here check "Turn off system restore for this drive" and then click OK.
Recycled:
Created by - Windows Recycle Bin
What is stored - All the files that are deleted from your memory card when the phone is connected to the system.
Purpose - Same as recycle bin. It stores the files deleted from the memory card when the phone is connected to the system. The contents of this folder cannot be accessed and retrieved directly. It just acts as an storage repository.
How to Disable - "Recycle Bin->Right Click->Properties". Here in the "Global" tab select "Configure Drives Independently". Then go to the tab corresponding to your TF and then select "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin...." option and select OK.
Reason why these are created:
When u connect your phone to your computer, it is detected and attached as a Logical drive (i.e.) physical removable hard-drive and not as a TransFlash memory card. By default these options are disable for TF cards or Pen drives that we connect to your system. Since Windows thinks that our TF is a physical drive/partition, it tries to protect its contents and status by implementing the default security features.
Its not a junk operation that Windows is doing but is a configurable feature to help you. So, don't go too hard on MS.
NOTE: I love Linux and the flexibility it brings in, but I don't like ppl saying MS is all bad. Its only because of MS did we start using computers 4 our day-to-day activities. So, I don't find anything wrong in accepting "I love MS".![]()

Thanks for the Post Dina, Knew it had something to do with Recycle Bin,But was a wee bit confused, since even if i just press "del" on a file in the Card it wud still be permanently deleted anyways.
Any idea what the folder "RECYCLER" is for? (There are 2 Recycled and Recycler) one of em is for Recycle Bin i guess but the other?
@PaulF - I don't understand wat u want to say. if u r trying to tell that u can prevent deleted files from moving to recycled folder by doing a Shift+Del, then yes shift+del prevents files from being moved to recycle bin. But, the Recycle bin process allocates space for itself on each and every logical drive until you dont disable it. The procedure that I've described works even for the drives on ur hard disk...
@dattakent - I've not seen the "Recycler" folder u've mentioned. Do u have any 3rd party delete tools installed on ur system? if yes then chk its settings.

I don't have the Recycle Folder in My MMC. Can I create the same
