  1. Default Help: Flash failing on my Ming!

I've tried to flash my 53p a1200 several times now with bint's 08p
    but no matter what usb mode or mbm method I use I can only get to where rsd lite 2.8 and 2.7 write the image then says waiting for reenumeration, then get a FAILED message. I cant read what the error is except for what little shows up like;
Phone (0000) phone did not... and that's as much of the message that is readable. Any body have this problem or now how to get passed it? Thanx in advanced

Many people have had problems with flashing, but most get it to flash correctly in the end. The best place to start is to follow the trouble shooting steps at the bottom of the Guide to Flashing sticky?

It is hard to tell from your description exactly what is going wrong - so difficult to give you more specific help than that. It it keeps failing you may have no choice but to try one of the C2 track fw's - which are usually successful.

    FW2: Hybrid e16Xr

i guess if the phone's working, no need to worry
    my life can be simplier..

if i could just flash it

Yeah phone still works but, I wanted to change the FW so that I could receive picture messages like I read in some of the threads. Just for some reason the phone will not start to flash. After the failed to flash message if I disconnect the usb I can hear the sound windows makes when disconnecting the usb but no go on the flash.

Do this...Go into your program files>motorola>rsd lite...

    Look for the FlashErrorLog...

Post that here so we can see WHY its failing.

i could be wrong but isn't MMS a provider/settings issue and not F/W related?

Not sure...but T-Mobile has messaging issues on specific FW...so its possible that he is having a similar problem.

My concern is with the failed flash's...people flash for so many reasons, and it aint mine to question why...

The first error i was getting was this:
    Line: 3282
ERROR: Phone[0000]: Unable to retrieve interface handle.
    File: Y:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\PST_FP_FlashThread.cpp

    File: Y:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\FlashHdlr.cpp

Then I stopped getting that then get this:
    Line: 5722
ERROR: Phone[0000]: The "Motorola_AP_Flash" Interface could not be found.
    File: W:\test_dev_usb\flash\code\flashdll\PST_FP_FlashThread.cpp

Hopefully that might explain something to anyone who knows how to correct my problem. Thanks

i got the mms and all other settings working but It won't receive mms. And I read on one of the threads that phones with the 53p firmware came from Hong kong and for some reason wouldn't receive mms unless the FW was changed to something else like 08p. I would leave the phone as is but it's my wifes and she really want to be able to receive MMS and doesn't want to get rid of that phone.

i hate to haveta tell you this, but it looks like 53P F/W has an MMS issue w/t-mobile (i have 53P and use cingular and have no problems), as much as i am against flashing un-necessarily....i think that may be the only solution for the functionality that you want.....or you could always switch to att/cingular

take a look @ this thread in reference

you might try this first if you haven't already b4 resorting to a flash: posted by user jacknmary

    INFO: T-Mobile MMS settings UPDATE
I got mine to work after fighting the send / no receive issue that we all have been frustrated with.

This is originally posted at www.motomodding.us where I am a moderator.

    Come see us!

    UPDATE!!!!!!

For those still having problems with MMS messages, I have the fix...

For US T-Mobile customers, go to the T-Mo wireless data configurator site: http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/phonefirst

    Select video/picture messaging

select Motorola as the make of phone

Select Rokr E1 as the model

Enter your number... then make a note of the PIN for when the message arrives.

Enter the PIN in the message, and let it install the update.

Once its done, go to your messages main screen and tap the Menu icon in the bottom left corner.

Select Service Setup > Multimedia Message

At the top of the window that opens, click the + at the Default Profile and select Picture Messaging then Menu > Edit

At the bottom of the window, be sure the Network Profile is also Picture Messaging.

Save, and then set Picture Messaging as Default, then Save again.

The problem was that when you manually set up your MMS, you automatically set it up to use your websession as the Network Profile. Picture messaging uses its own IP address. Manually setting that up, we would miss that.
