in your mobile, what is the status of the bluetooth modem??

click on "discoverable", & better still bind your fon to the laptop.
if the bluetooth modem in fon is showing connected,

go to device manager in laptop, click the + sign beside modem, & see whether the motorola modem is listed there.. & whether there's any exclamation sign on the icon....

please report back with these details.... & MOST IMPORTANT.... what is your OS??

From the device manager , uninstall the modem...now with the XP cd, reinstall TCP/IP[ Click on add/remove programs->add/remove window components & then follow the instructions. Select networking services->details->select all & click ok. select next & let the installation complete]

you can find some help on how to add window components here

Reinstall all your bluetooth adapter drivers...

Install your motorola BT modem driver... simply try detecting the fon in modem mode from MPT using BT connection.

This might happen due to a winsock problem. That is why i'm asking you to reinstall all the drivers. Hope it works out.

You might have problem reinstalling TCP/IP. In that case, follow this...

you need to run a small script:

    netsh int ip reset [ log_file_name ]

the log_file_name needs to be specified.

    e.g.
    netsh int ip reset ip_reset.txt

glad that it worked, but can you plz document here precisely how it worked? that will help someone in future who may have the same problem.

if it's disconnecting after 3-5 mins, that might be a problem with the discoverable mode. BIND the fon with the laptop.
