Q: Installing Smart Assistant-Super Utility

when installing the app the icon shows up on the applications page but the program is not installed. when i click on the icon nothing happens. i can't find the files in the phone to run the install.2. i've done all the steps in ever thread i can find. they all say to run "install2" in the phone, but the file isn't there. i have no PKG, or LIN, loader on the phone. do i need one of them first?

any thoughts???

you don't need of the mpkg for install the smart assistence.

you will need of the loader ou superman for install the program, because the program is .lin

what is your firmware?

Hi calebg - please check the SmartAssistant thread where you first posted this question. I have answered you in detail there.

And yes, if you are trying to run a Lin script then you need linloader installed first (read the Guide to Modding sticky for more info on this)

much appreciated. i've spent literally all day on this and here's what i've found: i need to install software on my desktop (RSD Lite??) so that i can install the mpkg which will allow e to install .lin loader so that i can install the smartAsst. Kiwiguy, thanks for trying in the other thread but i didn't understand. i'm not that good with computers. my FW is .25 so if you know an easier way of doing it than i explained...I'm listening.

Read how to install Smart Assistant in FAQ sticky (near bottom). There are 4 different methods - only 1 requires you to use LINLOADER. If you have a fairly new phone I would just do the whole /java and /QTLoader folder replacement (method 1) - though method 2 is pretty straightforward also.

Just make sure you take a backup of your .system folder first so can always recover if you make a mistake.

footnote: I thought 25p came with Superman already installed? That has linloader built into it - so you should be able to install SmartAssist with lin script using that. (Unfortunately if you do not have Superman installed, then getting linloader installed is very tricky for the 25p fw as you have correctly figured out.)

i have yet another questions for you. now that i have flashed the phone with rsdlite i installed the MPKG file that you have on your yan0's list. the file says "invalid application, file cannot be used". and when i try to install the linloader it says the same thing. so i'm affraid that i'm back to square one. any thoughts???

without further adoo! two days later, i have smar assistant!!!! i thought i woudl just try and install it anyways even though the mpkg didn't seem to work and worked!!!! thank you for your help!!!!

If you decide to try again with MPKG - you need a special version for 25p - you can not use the vanilla version (see Guide to Modding - there is a section devoted to installing MPKG on 25p with link to that version).

But hopefully with SmartAsst installed you have no need to do that. Have you actually been able to install any PKG files (make sure extension is PKG no MPKG) using SmartAsst?
