yes, this happens as exmms change the table.
If you want to be normal, before closing the exmms program, reduce the volume to 84% aprox.

This has just fixed the low volume problem for me! I don't know if anyone else noticed this but I didn't see anything when I searched so hopefully this post isn't useless. Basically what happens is that when I pump the volume in exmms all the way up, the rest of the sounds in my phone also go way up - moreso than when the phone was new. THis includes the ringer, the speaker phone, headphone, and taps on the touchscreen (even though the volume displayed through the ringer setup stays the same). It works even after I turn exmms off but goes away if I restart the phone. I have .46p firmware.
THis may have something to do with the version of exmms I installed but I'm not sure. Originally I DLed the version off rapidshare from the first post in the exmms thread and that worked through the .lin file, including head phone support. I wanted there to be an app button though (and I thought you had to install the pkg file separately) so I uninstalled it and tried installing just the eqexmms.rar file. This pkg worked on the phone but I couldn't get the head phones to work.
So after asking around and realizing that I can install it with both the directories and then install the pkg file, I uninstalled the old eqexmms pkg, then created the necessary file structure on my computer (with update) and put that on the phone. THen (and this is the part I can't remember exactly), I think I installed the exmms pkg, NOT the eqexmms pkg, onto the phone to get the app button. This resulted in a version that worked with my head phones. However, I noticed that the volume slider was a little buggy - it worked well sometimes but not others (I had to press the bar several times for it to work). Anyway, I was just playing with it more today and I cranked the volume at one point. Later, I turned it off and was playing with the phone and noticed a marked increase in call volume!

Because eXMMS access the mixer device directly. Maybe I can make a little app to change phone audio volume using donga's SDK, no need to change the volume table.
