NEWS: Opera mini 4 beta 2 now released!

I just noticed Opera Mini 4 beta 2 is now out with new features (landscape mode is my favorite), but I get the "package invalid" error.

Did anyone install it?
I'll give it one more try. I can't wait to see...

Ok, I did it

New things I noticed:

- landscape mode (of course, you have to 90^ turn the phone if you want to tape);
- smaller fonts (I would say much smaller);
- forward option (menu->tools->forward);

updated: I managed to download a file (the phone's browser poped up)

Installed fine but if they could've done much better.

The landscape mode works fine here and I am enjoying it Smile. Hope they improve the browser even more in the next few versions.

Anyone knows how to get full screen mode? I mean remove those red bars and make the page render fullscreen.

Slimslim - which file were you finally able to install and how?

It fails with "Invalid Application" when I try to download Beta 4 directly to my phone.

If I try to download to my pc - I can only find the Beta 3 version (opera-mini-3.1.8295-advanced-int) - it will not let my download Beta 4. I am on 53p.

Edit: Never mind - found it at CNET downloads at ==> http://www.download.com/Opera-Mini/3...ml?tag=lst-0-4

Edit 2: No that still not not work. It was a small file called "Beta" - but not sure what to do with it!

HI,

I downloaded the signature file and the .jar in my pc.

In order to do that:

http://mini.opera.com/beta/ -> and download the .jad file, (mini.jad) - in there you'll find the mini.jar file's path (copy-paste in browser, download).

You have to uninstall the previous Opera Mini ver.

Got it. Opened up the beta file and extracted the following 2 links:

Jar file: http://mini.opera.com/beta/mini.jar?...p;edition=hifi
Jad file: http://mini.opera.com/beta/mini.jad?...p;edition=hifi

It loaded fine on phone.

I am assuming you went with the high memory version?

Glad you made it. Yes, I used the high mem. Works on Ming.

Installed Opera Mini 4 beta 2 on My Ming:

1. Download the mini.jad file by going to:

2. Use a Unix compatible editor (like WordPad) to open the mini.jad file, it will look like this:

3. 9th line will point you to the mini.jar file:

4. Dowload mini.jar in your computer;
5. Copy mini.jad and mini.jar on the phone;
6. Uninstall the prev. Opera Mini 4 beta vers;
7. Install the .jad file on MMC (memorycard);
8. Modify the registry file, as usual:

- DRM-Mode: Allowed
- Is-Trusted: 1
- Domain: Manufacturer

and then go to the apps icon in the A1200 main applications menu and hold the stylus until popup menu appears. Select Manage -> Permissions and confirm that all items are "Never ask" in order to force new permissions to take effect;

9. Run the app.
