nisiandrew...we were sorta having this coversation in the "shout," but I don't think that was working out very well...
Here's the thing...no, Sprint is not GSM. When you see where it says, "Will work on all compatible networks GSM 850/900/1800/1900" they are specifically stating GSM.
Sprint uses a different technology called CDMA. Its very different. You can always tell a GSM phone because it requires a SIM card that is plugged into the back of the phone.
If you're seeing anything out on the interweb about Sprint and GSM, it is because Sprint offers a "dual mode" phone that runs on both CDMA and GSM. The reason is because GSM is used in other countries, and CDMA phones will not work internationally...so Sprint sells these dual mode things for when people travel abroad. But, in the US, those phones will only run on the CDMA network.
