Exclamation Getting Started/Guide to Posting - NEW USERS PLEASE READ!

Getting Started - for new users

If you are new you might feel little hesitant to post on a public forum. Don't be afraid to jump into a discussion - you will get lots of support and encouragement here. Initially you may just silently hang out until you feel comfortable posting, but we hope you will become a active participant in our discussions.

Before you post in the forums please read the following Guidelines to keep the forum as useful as possible for everyone.
    • Before posting anything please read the FAQs and Guide to Modding stickies at the top of the forum. These were specifically written to help new users. They should have the answers to nearly everything you are trying to do including detailed, step-by-step instructions.
      .
    • If you do not find the answer in these stickies then do a Search before posting the question. The Search button is at the top of the page.
      .
It is very tiring (and time consuming) for people to answer the same questions over and over - and they clog up the forum!! With over 5,000 users it is likely that your issue or question has already been discussed/answered - so USE THE SEARCH.
      .
    • Please do not start a new thread on a topic already being discussed. Post it to the end of the same topic.
      .
    • Make sure your post is related to the specific forum you are posting to
      .
    • When posting please put a MEANINGFUL subject line.simply putting 'help' or 'newbie' etc wll not attract readers for support, and it will save time of readers who are not interested in the topic
      .
    • DO NOT post iN aLL uPPer CaSe. IT IS LIKE YELLING. This goes for TITLES as well.
      .
    • Please don't expect people to reply to your postings via PM ,Yahoo,MSN or email. That only helps you - others probably have the same question and would like to know the answer. Keep the exchange of useful information public; that's what we're all here for!
      .
    • If you need help with a problem and you can not find the answer by doing a search then post it as a new topic. However, please put a little effort into describing the problem in as much detail as you can - you are more likely to get a response that will solve it. Just typing things like "My browser is not working - help me!!!" does not give enough info for anyone to help you!!

At the least you should put what firmware you on on, what you have done so far to try to fix it and whether this is a new problem that suddenly appeared or your phone has always had this issue.
      .
    • Please post in English. Posts in other languages will be deleted, as we can't translate everything, and we need to be able to understand what you write.
Thats it - other than Welcome and Happy Modding!

    Default Guide to posting

O.k. your new to the site and your looking for an app, theme, game or just have a question... what should you do. Should you just post your question, and ask for what you are looking for?

The answer is NO. The VERY first thing that you should do is a SEARCH. Searching will show you a list of topics that have been started within the perameters that you have specified. If a search doesn't get you the answers that you are looking for, your next step is the Sticky Threads. (keep in mind that this community isn't meant to be anyones dedicate help center, the time and effort of all of our members is valuable and should NOT be abused.

At the top of the Forum you will find several Threads that have been created just for you (these threads are STUCK on the page permanently, hence the STICKY name) . There’s the FAQ Sticky that has the most commonly asked questions and answers as well as links to Apps, utilities and games that are most commonly sought out.

There’s a Guide to Modding Thread that will walk you through everything from installing apps to creating your own themes, this is a must read for all new users.

If you’re looking to flash your phone there’s the Guide to Firmware and Flashing that will walk you through the whole process of flashing your phone, what firmware you can use for your model of phone and available specs on all KNOWN firmwares.

Once you've decided that Flashing is what you want, you can find links to all known firmwares in Thread titled ***Links to a1200 Firmware here***, download the appropriate file and flash away!

Once you have started a thread, please make sure and follow up with users who have taken time to respond. It's pretty frustrating to try to help solve an issue and NOT be able to get further information from the person ASKING the question in the first place. Our server space is NOT unlimited and orphan threads not only take up space but also clutter the forum and cause users to waste their valuable time sifting through threads to help or find things THEY are looking for

There is an Application section where you can find most of the apps your looking for, an most important the search bar this is like your best friend on the site. If you have tried all these options and still have not found an answer then feel free to ask for help. The fans and moderators are really good with helping but there are tons people reposting things that have been answered in previous post.

Q: How do I post a new theme?

So you created or found a theme and you want to share it within the community.
First thing you will need to do is capture at least four photos of the different looks of the phone such as homescreen, dialpad, filemaneger list etc...there are many features you can capture to post but you can decide your self which you would like to showoff. The first photo should be the home screen considering that this is the photo that will be present in the mototheme section. NOTE: All photos must be in .png format other formats won’t work. Once your photos are loaded, you can now load the zip folder containing the theme. Now once you have your photos an theme loaded its safe to post.

Q: How do I post a new app?

This is easy you just need to load your app it has to be in a zip folder. Also try to give full installation instructions and some info on what the app does. If your not shore if your reposting an app twice do a search on the app an also check the app section to see if its there already.

These are not rules it’s just a guide. everyone wants to help but if where spending time answering reposted questions we can’t help the people with new problems, and it's REALLY frustrating to answer the SAME question OVER and OVER, especially when the poster doesn't bother to search.

Thanks to User MANUP456 for taking the time to put this together with contributions from nodramachicks. If there is anything that you feel could enhance this thread for beginners, please PM nodramachicks!!
